    Today, I want to talk about Inclusion. Global Diversity Awareness Month kicks off this week, and the topic of Inclusion is going to be a focus point for Decathlon throughout the month. Inclusion is part of our recently renewed Human Fundamentals: It’s part of who we are; it’s in our DNA. At Decathlon , we believe that true inclusion means fostering an environment where different perspectives, diverse backgrounds and experiences are celebrated… We like to imagine a sports team where every individual is given the space and freedom to play their best personal game, while working fluidly as a collective in order to win together. It isn’t just about hiring a diverse workforce (though this is important), it’s about making every single teammate feel respected and understood. It’s about ensuring that everyone is seen and listened to, so that they can contribute meaningfully to common goals. We know from extensive evidence that diverse companies outperform less diverse competitors by more than 25%: fulfilled teams are productive teams. So, inclusion has to be intention, it has to be deliberate. It’s through this meaningful celebration of different perspectives that businesses both grow and innovate. At Decathlon, we’re a team of 100,000 people in 70 countries. This rich tapestry of nationalities, backgrounds and experiences is what makes us who we are. I’m proud to be a part of it.     Did you know that up to 60% of the global workforce commutes by car each day, with some countries reaching as high as 76%? This equates to 2 billion people contributing more than 100g of CO2 for every kilometre they drive… equivalent to wiping out the impact of millions of acres of forest each year. As we kick off Mobility Week here in Europe, this issue takes centre stage. At Decathlon , we’re fully committed to helping people transition to more sustainable modes of transport in all 70 countries where we operate. As one of the largest bike manufacturers and retailers in Europe, we have both the responsibility and the privilege to drive positive change alongside the United Nations Commission’s efforts to revolutionise mobility. Small steps – like swapping the car for a bike once a week or joining a carshare – may seem modest, but when scaled globally, the impact is immense. To back our commitment, we’ve just published our Mobility Transition Pathway pledge (link below) aimed at transforming infrastructure for a less impactful cycling industry. We’re also running an internal challenge this month to inspire our teams to move more and choose sustainable transport. There is no Planet B, and the future depends on each of us.     I had such a fantastic time watching Judo at the Champ-de-Mars Arena here in Paris, where no match can begin or end without a bow - a true sign of respect! Judo is a martial art that involves far more than just physical prowess. It teaches the importance of mental discipline and strategic thinking, which makes it a joy to watch. What makes it so thrilling is the fact that it is never a case of ‘the strongest opponent wins’. Judo has a philosophy of ‘maximum efficiency with minimum effort’... This means that competitors look to use their opponents force and momentum against them, which is why we often see smaller opponents successfully throwing their competitors. Judo was only introduced into the Olympics in 1964 with just 27 nations taking part. Since then, it has exploded in popularity with nearly 100 countries participating this year. This is thanks to the many legends that have competed in the sport over the years, including the iconic FOUR-time Olympic Gold medalist and Captain of the Decathlon Team of Athletes Teddy Riner. Today, Teddy took to the stage and made all 100,000 Decathlon teammates deeply proud as he won yet another Gold Medal! Historic. Let’s hope for one more tomorrow in the mixed team event! In his role as Captain, he put the virtues of Judo into practice, showing strength, kindness and leadership in preparing other athletes for the Games.
