    [REPLAY] Looking Back at #JRC2025 Key Takeaways from Clinical Research Day from the AFCROs On March 11, 2025, Deemea had the pleasure of attending the 13th Clinical Research Day organized by AFCROs. 🔹France remains the European leader in clinical research, driven by strong academic activity, particularly in oncology and rare diseases. However, the AFCROs Barometer confirmed a continued decline in clinical research activity across Europe, while the Asia-Pacific and the U.S. gain momentum. To remain competitive, France could take inspiration from Spain’s success in streamlining industry-sponsored trials. 🔹Artificial intelligence was another key topic. While AI can optimize processes, accelerate data analysis, and support decision-making, experts emphasized that human expertise remains irreplaceable in clinical research ✨ a perspective we at Deemea fully embrace!     🔎 [LLM & Imaging] Exploring the impact of Large Language Models on radiological imaging 🔎 🤔 What are Large Language Models (LLMs)? LLMs are AI systems trained on vast text datasets, enabling them to understand and generate human-like language. They excel in text generation, translation, summarization, and answering complex queries. Recent advancements have led to combining LLMs with vision models resulting in multimodal AI - able to process both text and images. This breakthrough expands their applications across various fields, including radiology. 🔗 (Read more: https://lnkd.in/eJUgM9_k) 📚 How do LLMs integrate with radiological report ? LLMs can analyze and enhance radiology reports, reducing manual workload and improving consistency. They also help build medical data lakes from radiological data by: ✅ Converting natural language reports into structured data ✅ Standardizing medical terminology across different institutions ✅ Retrieving patient history among different reports These capabilities can improve data interoperability, making it easier for radiologists to access relevant patient information efficiently. 🩻 Application in radiological imaging With multimodal approaches, LLM can analyze medical images directly alongside corresponding reports. This multimodal AI allows medical images analysis, automatic report generation, detecting subtle patterns in imaging data, and improving communication with clear, concise reports. Into radiology IT systems, they could also facilitate patient triage, automating the imaging study and protocol determination based on radiology requests, helping prioritize imaging studies based on urgency and patient data, and identifying additional imaging needs based on prior reports, ensuring timely follow-ups. ⚖️ The challenges: trust & bias in AI-assisted radiology Despite the promise, integrating LLMs into radiology or medicine comes with risks: ❗ Hallucinations: LLMs are known to generate inaccurate or misleading findings ⚖️ Bias & Fairness: AI algorithms are often trained on biased datasets, leading to misinterpretation or bad results 🔐 Regulatory Hurdles: Ensuring AI meets healthcare compliance standards Building trustworthy AI requires rigorous validation, human oversight, and ethical safeguards. 🚀 The future of LLMs in radiology It's essential to validate LLM, generated content due to risks like inaccurate or fake information. More research, ethical guidelines and regulation are needed for responsible implementation.
