Industrial solutions to carbon dioxide emissions

À propos

Dioxycle is pioneering breakthrough carbon utilization technologies that convert industrial emissions into sustainable chemicals with unprecedented energy and cost efficiency. By displacing fossil fuels for the production of key chemicals, Dioxycle has the potential to ultimately reduce over 800 million tons of CO2 per year, representing over 1% of the world's emissions. At Dioxycle, we believe that profitability is essential to trigger adoption of decarbonization technologies at the scale and speed required to reach our net-zero goals. With this in mind, our team is innovating across chemical, mechanical and system engineering to turn carbon transformation into an economically feasible, industrial reality. Having completed our medium-scale Proof-of-Concept carbon monoxide electrolyzer, we are now working towards a first-of-its-kind large-scale industrial prototype and are assembling key partnerships for future commercial roll-out. We are supported by world-class funders including Lowercarbon Capital, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Gigascale Capital and operate from two R&D centers in Europe and California. 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝘅𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 Dioxycle is excited to announce the appointment of Erik Scher as an Independent Board Director. Erik currently serves as the Chief Commercial Officer at Koloma, a pioneer in geological hydrogen exploration, and brings over 20 years of leadership and expertise in the energy and chemicals industries. Erik’s distinguished career includes more than a decade as co-founder of Siluria Technologies, where he held roles as Chief Operating Officer, Interim CEO, and President. Under his leadership, Siluria developed and scaled an innovative technology for producing ethylene from natural gas, leading to the company's acquisition by Lummus Technology. We are thrilled to welcome such an accomplished entrepreneur to our Board. Erik’s insights and extensive experience will be instrumental as we continue advancing our mission to convert waste carbon emissions into valuable chemicals and everyday products. 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗺 about joining Dioxycle: "I am very excited to work with Dioxycle as they build and scale their novel COx to ethylene technology. Sarah Lamaison, PhD and David Wakerley, PhD have built an outstanding team and investor base, and I’m honored to be part of this journey." We look forward to shaping a more sustainable future together—and having some great discussions about ethylene along the way!

🎥 Dioxycle on Netflix!     We are thrilled to announce that Dioxycle has been featured in the new Netflix documentary “What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates”. 🎬     Catch our little name drop in Episode 3: “Can We Stop Global Warming?” when we were pitching Dioxycle to Bill Gates and the team at Breakthrough Energy   We may be biased, but we can't recommend this episode enough for those seeking a thorough and thoughtful overview of the battle against climate change, and the people fighting it. It is so great to see Bill Gates and Netflix put a spotlight on emerging climate technology in such a digestible way. Our emission-busting electrolyzer can cut a big chunk off our planet's carbon footprint, but reaching net zero will take effort from every single one of us - and documentaries like this play a vital role of spreading this message!

📈 “The global demand for chemicals and materials is projected to double by 2050. CO2-based & recycled feedstocks (bio, CO2, recyclate-based) are projected to serve 75% of that demand”     A recent DOE-sponsored study by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine dives deep into how CO2 can be transformed into valuable products, reducing gigatonnes of emissions. Read the report here - https://lnkd.in/gzeqayEk   Sharing a few interesting excerpts from the report -   🎯The priority markets recommended for CO2 utilization are - fuels, construction materials, chemicals & chemical intermediates, polymers, agrochemicals, food and animal feed, and elemental carbon materials.    📣 Federal support is needed to enhance LCA and TEA guidelines. Current standards don’t provide clear guidelines for CO2 utilization or the associated infrastructure, and the alternative classification of CO2 as a waste, product, or by-product further complicates assessment.     ⬇ The report explores electrochemical conversion as one of the key pathways for CO2 transformation, though selectivity and energy efficiency remain a key challenge with current technologies. Given these challenges and the massive potential to reduce emissions through CO2 utilization, innovative solutions are crucial to drive the industry forward. This is where we come in. At Dioxycle, we have developed a breakthrough carbon-to-chemicals electrolyzer. Our technology can provide sustainable chemicals without the carbon footprint, and at unprecedented efficiency 🔧    Curious about how we are shaping the future? We believe that teamwork is paramount to continued innovation and overcoming challenges together, and the retreat offered a perfect opportunity to build deeper bonds in a fun setting.  🌲We were privileged to hear valuable insights on communication and teamwork from Christophe Schmaltz (HEC Paris) and benefitted from the beautiful surroundings, with scavenger hunts in the mountains, puzzles and enigmas, tag rugby, and of course, copious amounts of locally produced food (featuring a lot of cheese).  🌍With 25 team members representing 12 nationalities, the retreat was also a celebration of Dioxycle's diverse perspectives, cultures, and ideas. Ultimately, this time together served as a powerful reminder of our shared mission: to combat climate change - and if our team fights climate change like they fight to win a scavenger hunt, we should have a pretty good chance of winning! 🎯 Sarah Lamaison, PhD David Wakerley, PhD Grace McKelvey Maud Lemercier Andrey Slinko Arthur CHASSANDE Bastien Faure Charlélie Saudrais Chastity L. Our co-founder and CEO, Sarah Lamaison, PhD, had the honor of delivering a talk at the Closing Plenary of the Breakthrough Energy Summit in London a few months back. In this talk, Sarah dives deep into the often overlooked but crucial ethylene industry—a $200B market that plays a vital role in everything from plastics to consumer goods and automotive parts. Currently, ethylene is built by breaking down fossil fuels, contributing over 800M tons of CO2 annually. Dioxycle is changing the game by using renewable electricity to build ethylene from recycled carbon emissions, potentially abating over 1% of global emissions. Sarah also shares her journey of building Dioxycle alongside David Wakerley, PhD, and how the support from Breakthrough Energy has been instrumental in their progress. We were honored to have Sarah share our vision on such a prestigious stage. Watch her video below! #BESummit #ClimateTech #Sustainability #Innovation #WomenInChemical #WomenInClimate
