Why are we, at DOWSERS, international experts in formal verification? Why is this mathematical science not so developed in the USA, despite their technological and financial dominance? Well, I discovered the answer this weekend while taking the Boston subway.. Despite its prestigious and century-old scientific institutions like MIT and Harvard, the people of Boston commute daily on an archaic subway system compared to Paris. Since its inauguration in 1998, the automated Line 14, whose software was developed and verified through formal verification, has never experienced a security incident, to the delight of the billions of passengers who have used it with complete confidence. Other automated lines have been put into service in several countries after their formal verification by our founding partners at Dowsers, when they worked within the formal verification lab of the RATP group. Now you understand our mission and our advantage: we bring our expertise to blockchain to put an end to the serious security issues of smart contracts, software whose code is accessible to any coding expert. Last Friday, I had the pleasure to attend to the MIT Media Lab Decentralized AI Summit in Boston, where our board member Doug Levin animated a panel discussion with renowned blockchain & AI investors. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was, compared to France, to have straight forward discussions over coffee with VCs, entrepreneurs, scientists, and students during this event with high-level discussions. A special thank you to Steve Derezinski for showing me around this magnificent research center and sharing his great passion for the blockchain. The DOWSERS team will most certainly return to this iconic place filled with positive energy.
