  • It’s time for organizations to take a new approach to address loneliness in the workforce. Helpful and insightful article on Harvard Business Review “We’re Still Lonely at Work” By Constance Noonan Hadley and Sarah L. Wright In this article, the authors debunk myths about work loneliness, such as the belief that in-person work or team assignments can solve the issue. They emphasize that loneliness is not just a personal problem but also an organizational one, influenced by the work environment. Practical actions that employers can take to reduce work loneliness include measuring loneliness, designing slack in workflows, creating a culture of connection, and building social activities into the rhythm of work. Simple activities like communal lunches and happy hours are particularly appreciated by employees of all types. Work loneliness is an epidemic, but a cure is within reach, the authors contend. By helping employees make social connections, companies build a happier, healthier, and more productive workforce. https://lnkd.in/gaJUTjmA

  • Shift Your Leadership from “Power Over” to “Leading Through” by Kim B. Clark, Jonathan R Clark, and Erin E. Clark The traditional approach to leadership is best described as the pursuit and maintenance of power over people. However, this isn’t the most effective method. The “leading through” paradigm engages middle managers and employees of all levels so that leadership is a collaborative effort which leaves everyone feeling valued, seen, and in turn, more motivated. In the leading through paradigm, the soul, heart, and mind of leadership are three dimensions in one. Without the mind, the soul and heart may produce commitment and engagement but struggle to mobilize it in the right direction. And without the soul and heart, the mind may gravitate towards the “power over” paradigm. Anyone who wants to do the work of leadership — and do it well — must attend to, and learn to lead with, their own soul, heart and mind. https://lnkd.in/eSPxAGAN

  • Begin with Trust The first step to becoming a genuinely empowering leader by Frances X. Frei and Anne Morriss Trust is the basis for almost everything we do. It’s the foundation on which our laws and contracts are built. It’s the reason we’re willing to exchange our hard-earned paychecks for goods and services, to pledge our lives to another person in marriage, and to cast a ballot for someone who will represent our interests. It’s also the input that makes it possible for leaders to create the conditions for employees to fully realize their own capacity and power. So how do you build up stores of this essential leadership capital? By focusing, the authors argue on the three core drivers of trust: authenticity, logic, and empathy. People tend to trust you when they think they are interacting with the real you (authenticity), when they have faith in your judgment and competence (logic), and when they believe that you care about them (empathy). When trust is lost, it can almost always be traced back to a breakdown in one of these three drivers. This article explains how leaders can identify their weaknesses and strengths on these three dimensions and offers advice on how all three can be developed in the service of a truly empowering leadership style. https://lnkd.in/e_8wvY4 #leadership

  • An innovative approach! It will not leave you indifferent! #ebbfmember Naysan Sahba had a conversation with Rainn Wilson about his organization, Climate Basecamp, which aims to make the climate conversation 'cool' and accessible for everybody, not just scientists and activists. Rainn and his team adopt an innovative approach to advocacy, channeling their climate action message through five pillars of culture: food, entertainment, sports, fashion, and music. In one of his campaigns, for example, Rainn set up an ice cream truck in New York City, to inform people that extreme weather events are endangering the ingredients needed for their beloved dessert.
