Africa is a new playground for Estimages. After building 3D HR regional velocity models almost everywhere in the world (2,500,000 km²), the regional project we conducted this year with Murphy Oil Corporation in the Tano Basin, Ivory Coast, was our first in Africa. The challenge remained the same: integrating data of various types (seismic velocities, horizons, well velocities) and ages through 3D geostatistical algorithms to create an optimal velocity model for depth conversion. It was successfully completed. #ivorycoast #offshore #3Dvelocitymodel

Check out the newest addition to Estimages' Regional Velocity Model library! When one of the supermajors expressed interest in having an optimal tool for depth conversion in Danish waters, they turned to us. Although they provided some of the data used to build the RVM, most of it came from the GEUS databank. Thanks to GEUS's efforts to make subsurface data easily available in recent years, we now have access to a variety of vintage 2D and 3D seismic processings, as well as hundreds of check shots. That's all we need to build a robust RVM that can be used not only for hydrocarbon exploration but also for carbon storage exploration. The model is extensive, covering Denmark from the North Sea Central Graben in the West to Copenhagen in the East. Interested in learning more and getting your hands on the multi-client version of the model? Contact us!

A new onshore velocity model has been developed for the onshore Canning Basin of Western Australia through a collaboration between Estimages and Buru Energy. The project was enabled by co-funding under the Western Australian State Government’s Energy Analysis Program (EAP) initiative to encourage exploration of petroleum and geothermal resources in the state of Western Australia, a component of the Exploration Incentive Scheme funded by the Western Australian State Government and administered by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS). The velocity model covers an area of 70,000 km2 across the Fitzroy Trough (one of the main structural elements of the Canning Basin) and adjacent terraces. The model incorporates open file well velocity surveys from 99 wells and seismic velocity data from 39 2D surveys or reprocessing projects and 6 3D seismic surveys of varying vintages. This regional model provides the foundation for future analyses and projects that require conversion of data between time to depth and will enable future studies to be completed more efficiently and with higher accuracy. This project presented a significant challenge due to the sparse and diverse data types available and developing this velocity model has enhanced Estimages’ expertise in onshore modelling. The model will become available to the public and to download from DEMIRS’ WAPIMS on 1 September 2024. If you are interested in finding out more about his model and/or our velocity modelling capabilities, please do not hesitate to contact us! #Canning #DEMIRS #RegionalVelocityModel

If Estimages is well known for its HR regional velocity models, survey-scale velocity modeling is also a major part of its activity. Getting the best 3D velocity model possible requires, within the framework of non-stationary geostatistics, high expertise and powerful algorithms. In just a few days, you can get an accurate and updatable velocity model, as well as related uncertainties. Do not hesitate to get back to us and benefit from our high-quality service based on extensive experience (more than 300 VM projects around the world). #velocity_model #local #geostatistics #depth_conversion

You have the chance to meet us this year in the corridors of EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) in Oslo. We would be delighted to exchange with you, whether it's about velocity modeling or any other topic. With Estimages Norge being based in Oslo, we are playing a bit at home this year 😉 #EAGEAnnual2024 #EstimagesNorge

ESTIMAGES conquering new markets! 💪 After creating our first onshore regional velocity models in 2023 (Australia), we continue our geographical expansion. We are now applying our expertise in new regions of the world. Malaysia, India, and West Africa are becoming new playgrounds for generating accurate 3D velocity models. No limits. If you want to learn more about our multi-client or customized offerings, contact us. #velocitymodel

Drawing upon its extensive experience in building high-resolution regional velocity models (>2,500,000km²), we have developed a regional velocity model covering the O&G and CCS areas in the UK. The model integrates data released from the OGA database and can be applied at basin, license, or survey scales. Contact us to know more. #velocitymodel #depthconversion #exploration #ccs #UK

We have just completed the update of the Norwegian Sea and North Sea Regional Velocity Models (RVM) for Sval Energi. The integration of new data (38 wells, 11 PSDM) reinforces the quality and trust in the models. Far from the wells, at more than 50 km away from well control, the positioning uncertainty is estimated at 50 m (in terms of one standard deviation) for both models, which is remarkable! Closer to the wells, this uncertainty decreases. 3D non-stationary geostatistics is more powerful than any other technique for reconciling data from various types and sources. Contact us to update or acquire one of our 20 RVMs. They can be used for regional screening, regional or local time-to-depth conversion, and even as input for seismic imaging projects. #velocitymodel #Norway #geostatistics

In 2023, for the first time, ESTIMAGES worked on 3D onshore regional velocity models (onshore Perth, onshore Canning). The challenge was high, especially due to the various qualities of the input data. The reconciliation of seismic velocities, well time-depth functions, and interpretations was not easy. But 3D non-stationary geostatistics coupled with geological and geophysical expertise made it possible. The models are now in place and ready to be used for depth conversion. Building on these initial successes, new onshore regional projects are underway for 2024. In Australia, and perhaps in other parts of the world... Stay tuned. #velocitymodel #onshore #australia #basins
