EMTA unites 34 public transport authorities in Europe. The association fosters the sharing of experience on solutions that help authorities develop sustainable, smart and affordable mobility services. Its members organise the mobility of 100 million residents in 21 countries. EMTA represents public transport authorities in European institutions. It performs research in areas including decarbonisation, ticketing, Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS). It publishes the annual barometer of public transport statistics.

EMTA president Katalin Walter joined a panel to discuss impactful financing of urban mobility at the POLIS Network Leadership Summit in Prague on May 2024. The panel identified three key obligations: 🚇 continuing to finance public transport as the backbone of sustainable transport 🚶♂️ supporting citizens’ access to sustainable modes ⚡ financing low-carbon vehicles and energy sources The summit brought together high-level leaders in mobility from the public and private sectors, both from local and international levels. To make the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) work, we need urban nodes. And to make urban nodes work, their importance needs to be recognised.
