Its mission is to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. ESA is an international organisation with 22 Member States. By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, it can undertake programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country. ESA's 22 Member States are Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. 🆕 The ESA/JAXA #BepiColombo mission has successfully completed its fourth of six gravity-assist flybys at Mercury, capturing images of two special impact craters as it uses the planet’s gravity to steer itself on course to enter orbit around Mercury in November 2026. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eXZH84d5 JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency

European Space Agency - ESA a republié ceci
With the launch of #Sentinel2 C, ESA has once again delivered a significant success for Europe. Reflecting on the early Sentinel launches starting from 2014, it's remarkable to see how far we've come. In the meantime, Copernicus has evolved into a globally leading Earth observation programme. This achievement stands as a model case of excellent cooperation between European Space Agency - ESA and the European Commission. Europe's Vega rocket successfully launched the previous two Sentinel-2 satellites in 2015 and 2017, making this launch a fitting farewell to a highly successful rocket - delivered by ESA. Teams are already preparing for the next Vega launch, the upgraded Vega-C, by the end of the year. Today’s liftoff marks Vega’s 18th successful launch in its 12 years of service. Farewell Vega, long live Vega-C! Thank you to everyone involved! https://lnkd.in/ePmrBuBX

☕ Just a few hours ago, ESA/JAXA #BepiColombo passed within 165 km from Mercury's surface. This is the closest the spacecraft has ever been, and the closest it will ever get. 🆕 This stunning image is ESA/JAXA BepiColombo's first view of Mercury's south pole (top right of planet). It was taken 23 minutes after closest approach at a distance of 3500 km. ☕ Our spacecraft operations teams confirm all went well with our Mercury flyby last night. Now we wait and see what images and data our instrument teams collected! 😮 Stay tuned for a selfie-cam update later today. Here's a sneak preview 🤫
