Building on momentum: North American expansion and insights from the Battery show US 🚀🔋 Reflecting on our visit to the Battery Show US in Detroit last week, this trip marks another step towards our expansion into North America. 🌎 Earlier this year, we conducted a roadshow across the US and Canada to strengthen our network and connections. 🚆 Rail revolution at InnoTrans 2024: EXOES on Track 🚆 For our very first time at InnoTrans, Julien Baron, our Key Account Manager, was truly impressed by the full-scale exhibition of electrified trains on display. InnoTrans, Europe’s leading railway exhibition, attracted 170,000 visitors and 3,000 exhibitors. As EXOES expands further into the rail sector, with initial projects underway, this was a unique opportunity to witness firsthand the advancements driving the industry. 🚉 Julien explored the 133 vehicles on display and immersed himself in the growing trend of battery-powered trains, which have made significant strides in the past two years. 🔋🚄   The rail industry is seeing increasing demand from rail OEMs and battery manufacturers for specialized testing services. 🔥 LFP vs NMC: our performance review🔥 At EXOES, we specialize in advanced engineering and battery manufacturing, working with both LFP and NMC cells. The debate between LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) and NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) is central to the electric mobility industry. LFP is gaining traction for its lower cost and durability, while NMC is still preferred for its higher energy density. 🌏 China leads in LFP adoption, with Europe and the US following, especially for entry-level vehicles, while NMC remains favored for high-end models. Our current focus is on combining LFP cells with immersion cooling technology 💧 to unlock new advantages. As an independent player, here is our take on LFP vs NMC cell performance. 📌Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP): ▶ Safety : LFP Battery are less prone to overheating, especially during charging. During a battery fire, the exhaust gases average 300°C, but are partially oxidized leading to a risk of explosion if they accumulate in the battery ▶ Longevity: LFP batteries are renowned for their excellent calendar and thermal stability. They have a longer cycle life, making them ideal for applications where durability are paramount. ▶ Cost efficiency: LFP cells are built of abundant and lower cost raw materials. The Chinese overproduction of these cells makes them more affordable. This makes them an attractive option for cost-sensitive applications. ▶ Performance: While LFP batteries have a lower energy density compared to NMC, future LMFP chemistry could partially bridge the gap. LFP is suitable for use in electric vehicles where range is less critical. 📌Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC): ▶ High energy density: NMC batteries offer a higher energy density, providing more range per charge. This makes them a relevant choice for electric vehicles where extended range is a priority. ▶ Balanced performance: These cells strike a balance between specific energy, life span and cost. Due to their versatility, NMC cells are widely used in a range of electric vehicles, from passenger cars to commercial fleets. ▶ Safety: NMC batteries are more susceptible to overheating and their fire gases raises up to 1000°C. It may pose fire risks if not properly managed.
