🚀First JusTransLEAD Conference in Lisbon!🚀 The first JusTransLEAD conference organised by FECCIA - European Federation of Managerial Staff in the Chemical and Allied Industries and ECEG - European Chemical Employers Group as part of their EU-funded JusTransLEAD project on actions and best practices for sustainable management of just transition towards climate neutrality in the European chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber and plastics industry in Lisbon was a great success. The project partners, including also Lederne - Danmarks største lederorganisation and Ledarna – Sveriges chefsorganisation, had the pleasure of welcoming over 75 participants from across Europe. The conference commenced with two excellent interventions by the European Commission on their various initiatives to support just transition, followed by the introduction of the first project research results from the KU Leuven. Insightful presentations from companies, including St1, MOL Group, Syneos Health, Novonesis, Borealis and SECAFI provided great examples of their respective green transition processes and just transition practices. FECCIA - European Federation of Managerial Staff in the Chemical and Allied Industries had the pleasure to participate in the excellent workshop in Copenhagen on unconscious bias and inclusive leadership, led by Barbara De Micheli Ph. D, as part of the EU-funded Beyunbi project of CEC European Managers. We experienced two days full of new learnings and ways of uncovering and addressing our own unconscious biases as leaders in a exceedingly welcoming and open atmosphere, thanks to all the amazing participants from Denmark, Sweden, Italy and Germany. Today Europe and the world are facing many economic, political and environmental challenges, that will also affect the chemical and allied sectors. For FECCIA it is adamant that we need to deepen cooperation within Europe even further to guarantee excellent living standards and a prosperous economy for the benefit of everyone. Strong social partnerships and social partner agreements on national and EU level play a pivotal role now and in the future to achieve that. 🚀 JUS[T]RANS LEAD launched FECCIA - European Federation of Managerial Staff in the Chemical and Allied Industries is proud to announce the launch of JUS[T]RANS LEAD, FECCIA's new EU-wide project on Just Transition Leadership, generously co-funded by the European Commission 🇪🇺. Anna Nilsson, FECCIA President, comments: “FECCIA is very glad that together with our project partners ECEG - European Chemical Employers Group as well as Lederne - Danmarks største lederorganisation and Ledarna – Sveriges chefsorganisation, we will be exploring actions and best practices for sustainable management of Just Transition towards climate neutrality in the European chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber and plastics industry. As social partners, managers and employers play a decisive role to address the central questions of implementation of Just Transition strategies, since these will foster considerable strategic and actual changes within the industry and individual companies. FECCIA has released its position paper on the European Commission’s proposal for the revision of the European Works Council Directive. 🇪🇺 FECCIA welcomes the new provisions proposed by the Commission and is glad to see that some of the key demands by FECCIA for such a revision have been considered: ✅ one set of rules is applied to companies to overcome the existing exemption from common minimum requirements. This is key and necessary to provide a level playing field and to help avoid unjustified differences in employees’ – i.e., managers’ and workers’ – information and consultation rights   ✅ the concept of ‘transnational matters’ is widened to include employees expected to be affected in one or several other countries the process of employees’ request to establish an EWC is streamlined further, and risks of unnecessary delays or lack of employee representatives’ resources have been removed   ✅ measures are introduced to achieve a much more equal gender composition of EWCs   ✅ challenges hampering the practical effectiveness of EWCs’ information and consultation rights are reduced   ✅ sanctions and penalties have been introduced and employees can more effectively assert their rights through administrative or judicial remedies to promote enforcement   Representing over 100,000 managers and executive personnel in the European Chemical and allied industries – many of which are elected representatives in EWCs – FECCIA is convinced that the revised Directive will increase the effectiveness and quality of the input EWCs can deliver, thus deepening the social partner relations of representatives from different jurisdictions even further.
