À propos
The Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation is a public private partnership for trade-led growth, supporting governments in developing and least-developed countries in implementing the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement. Alliance projects cut through red tape and end costly delays at borders by bringing together governments and businesses of all sizes as equal partners to deliver targeted trade reforms. By emphasising digitalisation and delivering other best practices, Alliance projects enable businesses to trade more easily thanks to streamlined and more predictable processes. Governments save time and resources by modernising trade procedures while still safeguarding their borders. Ultimately, Alliance projects boost trade competitiveness and business conditions, which are key drivers of inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction. The Alliance is led by the Center for International Private Enterprise, the International Chamber of Commerce, and the World Economic Forum, in cooperation with Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). It is funded by the governments of the United States, Canada and Germany.

The supply chain of medical healthcare products in developing countries faces significant challenges and delays that can prevent critical goods from reaching those in need. 💊 To combat these issues, the Alliance has joined forces with UNICEF, UNICEF Supply to streamline and expedite the movement of essential medical supplies across borders. After successfully fast-tracking the import of critical healthcare supplies in Mozambique, we are scaling up our projects to 10 more priority countries. 🌏
Last Friday, I was blessed to be invited by the World Customs Organization to address Customs authorities of more than 160 countries. In 2023, UNICEF facilitated over 14,000 shipments in response to 30 global emergencies and development prorammes, transporting over 165,000 metric tons of supplies. Within these efforts, significant challenges persist. Supply chain inefficiencies are estimated to cost the development sector millions annually in unplanned costs, highlighting the urgent need for streamlined importation processes and digitalization. At the @World Customs Organization's Permanent Technical Committee (PTC) in Brussels, @UNICEFsupply ’s team, together with strategic partners, explored solutions such as end-to-end process digitalization, strengthening national system capabilities, and enhancing duty exemption policy and processes to minimize delays and costs. Bringing key stakeholders together fosters collaboration and paves the way for process harmonization, aligning efforts for greater impact. UNICEF remains committed to improving supply chains to deliver essential supplies to children around the world—on time and at scale. #SuppliesSaveLives #WCO #GATF #UNICEFSupplyDivision

A milestone in the implementation of the Regional Mutual Recognition Arrangement of the Americas From October 22-25, 2024, representatives from the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) teams of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay gathered in Buenos Aires to advance the MRA implementation project. With the support of the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, we reviewed progress, shared best practices, and identified ways to simplify and enhance MRA implementation across borders. Thanks to our exceptional hosts from Argentina’s customs team and to the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation team for coordinating this effort. As the Instituto Procomex team, together with Alessandra Monteiro, César García Vázquez, Antonella Lanfranconi Bobbio and myself, we had the privilege of moderating this workshop. Through our shared efforts, we achieved innovative outcomes that drive meaningful progress in trade facilitation across Latin America and the Caribbean. #TradeFacilitation #AEO #RegionalIntegration #GlobalAlliance #Procomex
