🔋 As Europe accelerates its transition to electric vehicles, a critical challenge arises: how can we secure a sustainable, sovereign lithium supply? Our Group Strategy Vice President Olivier de Mougins discussed this topic at Mondial de l’Auto - Paris this week. He shared how Imerys is addressing this call with initiatives like EMILI in France and Imerys British Lithium in the UK. These projects aim to not only meet our customers’ lithium supply needs, but also emphasize responsible mining practices. 💧EMILI, for instance, will utilize 90% recycled water and operate underground to minimize environmental & social impact. Through Mondial, Olivier emphasized our commitment to collaborate with other industry leaders such as ACC - Automotive Cells Company and THE FUTURE IS NEUTRAL to contribute to European sovereignty regarding critical supply of materials that meet the highest standards of traceability and environmental stewardship. 🤝 Learn more about the potential of lithium: https://bit.ly/3YcApH4

Did you know that 70% of Imerys’ purchases come from suppliers who’ve been assessed for their sustainability practices? This means they’ve transparently shared how they manage their social, ethical, and environmental impacts and their own supply chain. Two years ago, 53% of our suppliers were EcoVadis-rated. Since then, we’ve made strides by: 1️⃣ Training 80% of our purchasing teams to discuss responsible purchasing with suppliers. 2️⃣ Establishing Network Ambassadors across regions and categories to coordinate the implementation of our Responsible Purchasing approach. 3️⃣ Hosting events like the Meet & Greet in Asia to engage with our suppliers. Partnering with EcoVadis has been essential to our journey. It is with great pride that Felipe Sabbadini, Imerys Purch Group VP, discussed our engagement on Sustainable Purchasing at the Ecovadis World Tour 2024 today in Paris. Building responsible supply chains is a long journey and we are committed to continuing our work to help our suppliers improve their sustainability practices. This continuous improvement work is led by our Responsible Purchasing team headed by Cyril EMONET, Group Sustainable Purchasing director. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4h5S248

🤩 We've identified over 1,000 actions across our sites worldwide with the potential to reduce GHG emissions equivalent to removing 4,100 cars from the road every year! 🚗💨 From the U.S., to France, and all the way across to China 🌍: our sites are creating a ripple of sustainability across the world. Back in 2019, we launched a worldwide program to transform the energy performance and efficiency of our sites worldwide. Here are a few of those projects driving real impact: 1. Villers, France: Our carbonate calcium site close to Paris has reduced 42% of its GHG emissions since 2021. This is mainly due to the implementation of a new X-ray sorting system upstream of the chalk process to remove flint from the chalk ore. 2. Deqing, China: A three-stage evaporator under construction will slash steam consumption by 70%. 3. Sylacauga, USA: A new roadmap identified 41 actions that have the potential to reduce GHG emissions equivalent to those produced by 4,500 passenger vehicles per year. Among the actions? Optimization of the material dryers, installation of variable frequency drives to reduce motor energy consumption and dryer heat recovery. Read more: https://bit.ly/3XU7Nm2

Have you ever seen this on a road? Here’s what happened: 🚗💥This is the scene right after a car accident that has led to an oil, fuel, acid or chemical spill. When this happens, time is of essence to stop the spread and clean it up safely. This is where minerals come to the rescue - specifically, a mineral called moler, a remarkable absorbent found only in Denmark. 🧽Moler’s porous diatom structure and clay properties make it perfect for soaking up spills fast. At Imerys, we’ve harnessed its unique powers to create ABSODAN®, based on calcined #moler—a high-performance absorbent that not only speeds up cleanups but also reduces material use, waste, and costs. What you’re seeing in the photo is ABSODAN® in action, helping make roads safer. Interested to learn more? We’ll be showcasing ABSODAN® at the FLORIAN trade fair in Dresden, Germany on 10 - 12 October 2024 (Hall 4 Stand H1). If you can’t make it, you can learn more about our product range on our website: https://bit.ly/3TVaxOG
