Its crystal-clear waters nurtured endless biodiversity, its waves brought freshness, and its beauty captivated all who admired it. It provided 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 to coastal communities, supported fishing and marine life, and inspired poetry and art. But today, this beauty is under threat. 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬, once 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, have become polluted zones where waste and chemicals accumulate, disrupting the fragile balance of the ecosystem. In response to this crisis, the 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 project is stepping in with a vision to 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 and 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐚. They are our everyday 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬, our 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐬 when we need them, 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 for all citizens. But today, these streets and public spaces are no longer what they used to be. Traffic, cars, accidents, and many other obstacles prevent us from enjoying them as we should. Their original, simple, and healthy purpose has been disrupted. This is where the Streets for Citizens Project comes in: an extraordinary initiative that aims to restore streets to their essential role. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬 aims to restore streets as public spaces for citizens, focusing on sustainable mobility and greener streets. By raising awareness and engaging citizens, it seeks to address issues like traffic, car ownership, and lack of green spaces. Through 𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 and 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 in partner countries, the initiative will develop 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to enhance 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 and return streets to their original, accessible purpose.
