Towards a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector. Hosted by UN Environment Programme.
À propos
Launched at COP21, the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) is a voluntary partnership of national and local governments, inter-governmental organisations, businesses, associations, networks and think thanks committed to a common vision: A zero-emission, efficient and resilient buildings and construction sector. The GlobalABC functions as an umbrella or meta-platform – a network of networks – that brings together initiatives and actors focusing on the buildings and construction sector. Our network currently includes 256 members, among which are 37 countries. The GlobalABC works towards a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector, and aims to: • Be a global advocate and a catalyst to action: GlobalABC advocates for market transformation and focuses on catalysing action by defining a carbon neutrality strategy for the built environment. • Be a trusted platform to set targets and track progress: GlobalABC tracks progress in its annual Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction (Buildings-GSR), and its Building Climate Tracker, a new index to track progress in decarbonization in the sector. • Support countries in setting priorities and measures based on their situation: GlobalABC develops policy guidance and global, regional, and national buildings and construction roadmaps outlining aspirational targets, timelines, and key actions for essential policies and technologies, and, offering a model for national and citylevel buildings and construction roadmaps to support and raise the ambition of NDCs.

BMT-nin Qlobal Sazişi olaraq 17 Sentyabr tarixində Yüksək Səviyyəli İqlim Çempionu dəyərli Alida Saleh tərəfindən təşəbbüs edilən, AISA - Azərbaycan Sənaye Təhlükəsizliyi Assosiasiyası ilə birgə təşkil olunan və inşaat sektorundan olan şirkətləri bir araya gətirən dəyirmi masa müzakirəsinə ev sahibliyi etməkdən böyük məmnunluq duyduq. Bu ilin iyul ayında özəl sektordan olan şirkətlər bəyənnamə imzalayaraq COP29 təşəbbüslərini dəstəkləmək, dekarbonizasiya hədəflərini təşviq etmək və iqlim dəyişikliyi ilə mübarizə tədbirlərini biznes modellərinə inteqrasiya etmək üçün öhdəlik götürmüşdü. Bəyənnamənin davamı olaraq COP29 ərəfəsində baş tutan bu seminar xüsusi əhəmiyyətli idi. Dəyərli Alida Salehin moderatorluğu ilə keçirilən bu seminarda sektor nümayəndələri ətraf mühitə olan təsiri azaltmaqda qarşılaşdıqları çətinlikləri, dayanıqlılığı artırmaq üçün var olan və ehtiyac duyulan standartları ətraflı şəkildə müzakirə etdilər. Dəyərli Gulnara Roll Binalar və Tikinti üzrə Qlobal Alyansın fəaliyyəti haqqında məlumat verərək, şirkətləri COP29 Azerbaijan-dakı fürsətlərdən yararlanmağa dəvət etdi. Seminarın sonunda BMT-nin Qlobal Sazişinin Azərbaycan üzrə rəhbəri Samir Məmmədov sektordan olan şirkətlərə hər zaman dəstək olmağa hazır olduğumuzu, iqlim dəyişikliyi ilə mübarizə tədbirləri üçün ehtiyac olan standardların yaradılmasında, mexanizmlərin asanlaşdırılmasında, eləcə də təhsil və bacarıqlarda olan boşluqların aradan qaldırılmasında köməklik göstərə biləcəyimizi vurğuladı. As the UN Global Compact in Azerbaijan, we were honored to host a roundtable discussion on September 17th, initiated by esteemed Ms. Alida Saleh, High-Level Climate Champion, and organized in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Industrial Safety Association, bringing together companies from the construction. This year, in July private sector companies signed a pledge to support COP29 initiatives, promote decarbonization goals, and integrate climate change mitigation measures into their business models. As a follow-up to this pledge, this seminar, held on the eve of COP29 activities, was of particular importance. Moderated by the esteemed Ms. Alida Saleh, the seminar provided an in-depth discussion among sector representatives about the challenges they face in reducing environmental impact and the existing and required standards to increase sustainability. Esteemed Gulnara Roll provided information about the activities of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction and invited companies to take advantage of opportunities at COP29 Azerbaijan. At the conclusion of the seminar, Mr. Samir Mammadov, Country Manager of the UN Global Compact in Azerbaijan, emphasized that we remain ready to support companies from the sector, assist in creating the necessary standards for climate change mitigation efforts, facilitate mechanisms, and address gaps in education and skills. 📢 Practical guidance on buildings and NDCs coming up! The new round of NDCs is a key opportunity to enhance climate action in the buildings sector. With that in mind, GlobalABC and PEEB are preparing a policy brief with actionable guidance for the revision and enhancement of countries’ NDCs for buildings and construction. Today at the 29th Technology Executive Committee (TEC) Meeting of UNFCCC, Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC)’s Jonathan Duwyn will present the draft recommendations on behalf of the team, together with PEEB's Willy Alarcon. 87% of countries mention measures for the buildings and construction sector in their NDCs. Nevertheless, few have quantifiable mitigation targets or financing plans and many lack comprehensive, whole-life carbon measures or adaptation. New or updated NDCs must be ambitious, implementable, fundable, and equitable. Our upcoming policy brief breaks down the path to better NDCs in five steps: 1. Identify country circumstances to determine the balance of climate priorities 2. Decide what types of measures are relevant to the country’s building sector, based on the level of maturity 3. Select an appropriate combination of measures to achieve sector climate change goals 4. Put in the necessary enablers to translate the chosen measures into action 5. Check to ensure the NDC measures committed to are Ambitious, Fundable, Implementable, and Equitable Stay tuned in our channels for the release of our Policy Brief!
