Kadans Science Partner is excited to today announce the official opening of their new state-of-the-art laboratory building MAYDE, 5-10 Brandon Road 🏢🍾 Located in King’s Cross, London, MAYDE is the most recent high-specification office and laboratory building to join the world-famous Knowledge Quarter. 🏙️ MAYDE is a unique building, as it is the only space in London that offers good-manufacturing-practices (GMP) facilities alongside R&D and office space. The building was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours for invited guests, and speeches from Steve Bates, CEO of BioIndustry Association (BIA) and James Sheppard, International Head of Asset Management at Kadans Science Partner. 🥼This new laboratory scheme of 114,000 sq ft includes high-quality GMP pilot plant facilities which are directly connected to R&D spaces. This includes one floor of fully fitted lab and office space ready to occupy immediately. 🏗️ Construction began in 2022 with the intention of creating a space that boasted a high technical specification. 🏙️Last week, the German team of Kadans Science Partner handed over a total of 4.189 m² of tech labs and office space to the Collective Incubator of RWTH Aachen University on the historic campus of At the Park Aachen. 🥼The Collective Incubator is one of the key projects at RWTH Aachen University, it supports a co-innovation platform between students, researchers and companies. The Collective Incubator is part of the Excellence Start-up Centers.NRW project at RWTH Aachen University and is funded by the Ministry of Economics of North Rhine-Westphalia. 🔬Embedded in the At the Park Aachen campus, the project creates an innovative infrastructure where student projects, initiatives, founding teams, and start-ups are able to grow. About 2,000 m² will be used as technical labs for innovation in the Werkhalle-Nord. 🧪We at Kadans are pleased to be a part of this important project and wish RWTH the best of luck on their innovative journey. Rotterdam Science Tower fully transitions to sustainable energy! 🌱💚 🏡As of last month, Rotterdam Science Tower has officially disconnected from gas heating, marking a major milestone in its journey toward sustainability. In the past, the building was heated using two gas-fired boilers. Over the past two years, extensive work has been done to implement an Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) system. 🌍This innovative system utilizes the earth’s natural properties for heat and cold storage. During summer, cold water from a cold reservoir is used to cool the building, while excess heat is stored in a warm reservoir. In winter, this stored heat is used to warm the building. 🌬️This past weekend, the final air handling unit was connected to the ATES system. With the gas boilers set to be decommissioned entirely this week, Rotterdam Science Tower is now completely gas-free! This transition will lead to an annual saving of approximately 250,000 cubic meters of gas. 🍾To celebrate this significant achievement, we hosted a special takeaway event featuring sustainable drinks on Thursday, October 24. Breaking ground at Kadans' new purpose-built commercial science facilities at Merlin Place 👷 Yesterday we hosted a breaking ground ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on site. This event further marks our commitment to sustainable development within the Cambridge area, extending our reach from the south of Cambridge Babraham Research Campus. 🔬 The new facilities comprise of CL2 laboratories and are designed with the wider community in mind, including a public café and social spaces. Meet our other keynote speaker at the Kadans Innovation Summit! 🚀 Prof. dr. ing. Peter J. van der Spek is professor and head of the bioinformatics department at Erasmus MC. His research focuses on molecular carcinogenesis and the cloning of cancer predisposition genes. Van der Spek has six years of pharmaceutical experience with Akzo-Nobel and Johnson & Johnson and holds several international academic appointments in Japan, Australia, and the US. The bioinformatics group at Erasmus MC specializes in data mining and complex multi-omics data analysis, supporting scientists in fundamental research, molecular diagnostics, molecular imaging, forensic molecular biology, and clinical research. Peter leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) and Machine Learning (ML) to analyse multi-omics data in clinical research. Interested? This is an extension of over 7,000 sqm in the Pastoe Fabriek. 🎨 HKU stimulates, develops and supports innovation by collecting and distributing knowledge about the ways in which creativity is applied to new and existing professional fields. Meet one of our keynote speakers at Kadans Innovation Summit! 🚀 Professor Louise Jones, Professor of Breast Pathology at Barts Cancer Institute (Queen Mary University of London) is one of the keynote speakers pushing the boundaries of life sciences. Trained at the University of Leicester, Louise Jones has a PhD in Control of Breast Cancer Cell Invasion. Her main research focus is on the role of the microenvironment in mediating the progression of DCIS to invasion, and the biology of high Mammographic Density. Interested?
