Visualizing a point cloud of a billion points in VTK on a single machine is now possible! 🚀 Recently, WebGPU integration into VTK has been improved and we added a new way to render point cloud. Curious to know how we did this? 🤔 Check out this blog post 👇 https://lnkd.in/evVB_-df The aerial pointcloud was acquired by the Grand Lyon in April 2018.

🚀 Enhance Your Robotics with Advanced SLAM Technology! 🤖 If you’re working on robotics, integrating a reference map with SLAM can significantly elevate your project. For example, you can detect obstacles in your environment while performing SLAM and plan your robot's trajectory to avoid collisions effectively. We demonstrate here how obstacles can be clustered, whether they are static or dynamic. This feature is now available in our ROS wrapper for our open-source SLAM library: https://lnkd.in/eXsuWirb. 🔍 Ready to experience the power of our SLAM in ROS? Give it a try and see how it can transform your robotics applications!

It was pleasure to assist #MICCAI2024 and meet all of you! 🎉 This year's focus was on "equitable machine learning in healthcare", where we have seen numerous examples of how open-source software can make a significant impact. NousNav and the MONAI eco-system (#NVIDIA) are all great examples. At Kitware we are proud to be at the forefront of this trend with our FOSS tools in the medical space ⚕ (#3DSlicer, #HistomicsTK) and even more innovations are on the horizon ⚡ (#ParaLabel)... #FOSS #medical #AI #MICCAI

🚀 New Feature Alert: Volume Calculation in LidarView! We're excited to introduce a new filter in LidarView that computes the volume for selected points in your lidar scans or any point cloud data. Whether you're working on terrain analysis, construction monitoring, or any application requiring accurate volumetric measurements (for objects, stockpiles...), this tool is designed to save time and improve accuracy. 🎯 🔑 Key Benefits with LidarView: - Simple selection of points for targeted volume calculations - Faster insights through an intuitive pipeline - Accurate results for better decision-making - Scalability with large point clouds Check it out in the latest release of LidarView 5.0: https://lnkd.in/gMfEGM4C, and feel free to contribute to its improvement. If you have specific use case, don't hesitate to reach out!

You can now build and download a docker image for our LiDAR SLAM ROS2 package directly from our GitLab CI: https://lnkd.in/e--Q9SsG! 🌟 🚀This means setting up and running our SLAM package is now easier and faster than ever. Whether you're a researcher, developer, or robotics enthusiast, you can now get started with just a few simple commands. Check it up here: https://lnkd.in/eqdFridD We can't wait to see what amazing projects you'll build with this! If you have any questions or need support, feel free to reach out. Happy coding! 💻

The WebGPU implementation of VTK has been extended to support easy-to-use compute shaders! The new WebGPU compute shaders API allows offloading computations from the CPU onto the GPU. This enables very appreciable speedups depending on the use-case. 🔥 For more information, check out the blog post written on the WebGPU Compute API https://lnkd.in/eX-WP-8d. 📝 The user documentation that gives extensive details on how to use the compute API is here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eHPUg7p3

Thank you for your lighting talk at the ParaView User Day 2024 Jean M. Favre! We were honored to discover more on the first-ever visualization made on CSCS new ALPS supercomputer with ParaView.
Thanks to Kitware Europe for the great organization of the ParaView User Day Europe 2024. It was an opportunity for me to show the first-ever visualization made on CSCS new ALPS supercomputer. The visualization rendered on our new Grace Hopper compute nodes with #ParaView v5.13 features a collision between a proto-Jupiter and another celestial object, in the quest to understand the reason for Jupiter's "fuzzy" core. Simulation by the team of Prof. Joachim Stadel at the University of Zürich. More details here: https://lnkd.in/eb-GaKqP

It is an honor to be part of this European project that will allow the research and mitigation countermeasures of bycatch in the Western EU waters to progress. 🗺The poster below summarizes the overall picture of the project involving many expertises from 21 partners accross 9 countries. 🐟📹Led by #IFREMER, and in collaboration with #I2S and #Marport, WP5 aims at developping a platform for detecting bycatches directly on the fishery boat in order to protect endangered and threatened species (PETS) by selectively allowing them to escape the net when such a species is detected. 💡Our open source DYI AI tool VIAME/DIVE will be used to train classifiers of various species and to embed the networks on embedded platforms. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to be updated on the news of this amazing project ! https://lnkd.in/eh3DJxZj
We are proud to be able to introduce our project at this year's #ICESASC24 event in Gateshead, UK. Our project coordinator, Julia Calderwood is presenting our poster at today's poster session so if you're also attending, please stop by to say hello! We are also planning to launch our first newsletter issue in the coming month, so sign up at https://lnkd.in/en43pPtR to make sure you're kept up to date with our efforts at mitigating bycatch of protected, endangered and threatened species across western EU waters and beyond.
