👉 During the 61th UN Commission for Social Development, the NGO Committee, which LP4Y is part of, is dedicated to raising awareness on the Priority Theme and bringing the voices, experiences, and recommendations from the grassroots. The NGO Committee held a Civil Society Forum, which one of the thematic sessions was about “Working Toward Concrete Solutions for Marginalized Young People Facing Unemployment.” For most marginalized youth living in poverty, their work does not mean earning a living wage. It means exploitation, very low pay, and forced layoffs. This panel showed how work should enable youth to live in dignity and be recognized as useful members of society. Sherlyn Caasi, Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y) graduate, is an example of success. She worked as a call center agent in Alorica and is today coach herself leading a LP4Y program in Tondo, Manila, Philippines. She shared a testimony and precious inputs on this panel on February 10th. Listen to her!

À propos
Life Project 4 Youth Alliance is a federation of 17 organizations in 14 countries whose aim is the development of innovative solutions for the professional and social inclusion of Young people (17-24 years old) living in extreme poverty and victims of exclusion. Our 3 missions: - ACCOMPANY the most excluded Youth thanks to a tested pedagogy and ecosystem allowing them to find sustainable jobs on their own and to be socially included in the decent world. - CAMPAIGN with young adults coming from extreme poverty to offer concrete, grassroots solutions addressing inclusion issues and give them a platform. - ENGAGE all initiatives in favor of young adults in danger by sharing the expertise acquired, counselling, creating Youth inclusion networks, offering services and training. We know from experience that when we develop these three LP4Y missions simultaneously and evenly across a single ecosystem, there is a measurable increase in sustainable inclusion of marginalized Youth. On October 17th, the world comes together for the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, a day created by the UN in 1992 to raise awareness and address global poverty. Despite progress, millions still live in extreme poverty, with young adults bearing a significant portion of the burden. Youth unemployment is nearly 3.5 times higher than that of adults, and young workers are twice as likely to live in extreme poverty (with less than $1.90 per day). As we reflect on these statistics, it’s crucial to discuss solutions for better #YouthInclusion. Join us at the Youth Inclusion International Forum (#YIIF) on October 23, 2024 to explore actionable strategies and connect with global experts committed to creating brighter futures for excluded young adults. 📍Year Up, 85 Broad street, NYC 🕒 8:30am to 1:10pm Together, we can drive meaningful change and help eradicate poverty for the next generation! ➡️ Register now through the link in comment #EndPoverty #GlobalChange #YouthEmpowerment
