  • AutoStore™: Revolutionizing Warehouse Automation with Cube Storage Technology AutoStore™, headquartered in Nedre Vats, Norway, is a pioneering startup that is transforming the world of warehouse automation with its innovative cube storage technology. Founded in 1996, AutoStore has developed a unique and highly efficient automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) that is widely regarded as one of the most space-efficient solutions in the industry. Their technology is helping businesses across the globe optimize their warehouse operations, reduce costs, and increase storage capacity. The core of AutoStore’s system is its cube storage technology, which allows products to be stored in stacked bins within a compact grid. Robots navigate the top of the grid, retrieving bins as needed and delivering them to operator stations for picking or replenishment. This system dramatically increases storage density compared to traditional shelving methods, often allowing warehouses to store up to four times more inventory in the same footprint. AutoStore’s technology is highly modular and scalable, making it suitable for businesses of all sizes—from small e-commerce companies to large multinational corporations. The system can be easily integrated into existing warehouse infrastructure, and additional robots and storage modules can be added as business needs grow, providing a flexible and future-proof solution. One of the key advantages of AutoStore’s system is its energy efficiency. The robots used in the system are powered by a minimal amount of energy, often requiring only the same amount as a vacuum cleaner. This not only reduces operational costs but also supports sustainability goals by lowering the overall energy consumption of the warehouse. AutoStore’s innovative approach has attracted a wide range of customers, including major global retailers, manufacturers, and logistics providers. Companies such as Puma, Siemens, and Best Buy have implemented AutoStore’s technology to optimize their warehousing operations, improve order fulfillment times, and enhance overall efficiency. As the demand for e-commerce and fast delivery continues to grow, AutoStore is at the forefront of the shift towards automated, high-density warehousing solutions. Their technology is setting new standards in the industry, enabling businesses to meet the increasing demands of modern logistics and supply chain management. Stay connected with AutoStore to learn more about their cutting-edge technology, new installations, and their impact on the future of warehouse automation. We had the opportunity to visit the Paris Motor Show (Mondial de l’Auto - Paris) and it was an exciting showcase of the future of mobility. Electric vehicles (EVs), hydrogen-powered cars, and autonomous driving were the key trends. Leading brands like Peugeot Renault Group and BMW Group presented their newest models. Chinese automakers, particularly BYD were also noteworthy, highlighting their growing role in the European EV market. Startups like Verkor and Mobilize added to the innovation on display, and Valeo a major French player in automotive components, showcased advanced technologies for electric and autonomous vehicles . The show runs until October 20th, and I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in the next generation of mobility!

Climeworks: Capturing CO2 for a Cleaner Future Climeworks, based in Zurich, Switzerland, is a pioneering startup at the forefront of carbon capture technology. Founded in 2009, Climeworks is on a mission to combat climate change by capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) directly from the air and safely storing it or utilizing it for various industrial applications. Their innovative approach is contributing to the global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve net-zero targets. Climeworks' technology, known as Direct Air Capture (DAC), involves using specialized filters to capture CO2 from ambient air. The captured CO2 is then either stored underground through partnerships with organizations that focus on permanent storage solutions or repurposed for use in products like synthetic fuels, carbonated drinks, and even enhancing agricultural yields. This versatility makes Climeworks' technology a vital tool in the fight against climate change. One of Climeworks' most significant achievements is the development of Orca, the world’s largest direct air capture and storage plant, located in Iceland. Orca is capable of capturing 4,000 tons of CO2 annually, which is then permanently stored underground in basalt rock formations. This facility marks a major milestone in scalable carbon removal technology and demonstrates the potential of DAC to contribute meaningfully to global climate goals. Climeworks is also focused on making its technology accessible to individuals and companies committed to reducing their carbon footprint. Through their subscription service, consumers can offset their emissions by directly supporting the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere. This model not only helps finance the scaling of Climeworks’ operations but also empowers people and businesses to take direct action against climate change. The impact of Climeworks' work has gained international recognition, attracting significant investment and strategic partnerships with governments, corporations, and climate-conscious organizations. As climate change continues to pose a critical challenge, Climeworks’ innovative carbon capture solutions are becoming increasingly essential to achieving global sustainability targets. As the world seeks effective strategies to reduce CO2 emissions and mitigate climate change, Climeworks stands out as a leader in carbon removal technology, offering a scalable and effective solution for a cleaner, more sustainable future. Stay tuned for updates on Climeworks’ groundbreaking projects, technological advancements, and their role in the global effort to combat climate change.
