OECD's Global Forum on Technology convenes experts & policymakers to orient tech towards a values-based human future.
À propos
OECD Global Forum on Technology The OECD Global Forum on Technology (GFTech) is attracting the world’s leading minds in technology and forward-thinking policymakers to explore and understand the opportunities and risks of cutting-edge technologies. Our mission is to foster inclusive, multi-stakeholder and values-based discussions on emerging technologies, in support of aligning their development and use with democratic principles and human rights. Our work aims to foster strategic, evidence-based dialogue and international cooperation on key emerging technology policy issues. It seeks to inform principles and approaches based on shared values, identify and analyse technological developments with societal, economic, security and sustainability impacts, and explore policy challenges and opportunities posed by emerging technologies. The forum also promotes sharing good governance practices to build trust and foster coherent approaches based on mutual interests and democratic values. The three initial* GFTech focus areas are: • Immersive technologies • Quantum technologies • Synthetic biology Looking at technology through cross-cutting lenses to promote: • Responsible, values-based and rights-oriented technology • Sustainable development and resilient societies • Bridging digital and technological divides Follow us and join the dialogue on shaping a future where technology serves humanity and upholds our shared values. *OECD.ai(https://oecd.ai) and GPAI have robust programmes on AI so GFTech does not explore this technology, except on convergence issues.

Seasoned Robotics Development Lead with over 25 years of experience across industries. Expertise in robotics, innovation, project management, and team leadership. Previously, Visiting Professor at Cranfield University.
Last month I had the privilege of being asked to speak at the OECD GFTech summit in Paris. In my TechTalk, I talked about why we shouldn't fear robots and how we can help everybody overcome their fears and live with robots in the future. Turns out, the talk covered a lot of ground! This is the full transcript of the speech...

Think 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 are too complex to understand? ⚛🤔 They don’t have to be! 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭, created as an experiment using NotebookLM, Google’s generative AI tool, and based on our briefing document (https://lnkd.in/dffWpQih). While you might catch a few amusing quirks—qubit pronounced like "quibbit" instead of Q-bit —this podcast offers a clear and balanced introduction to the exciting world of quantum technology, closely following our brief. This tech experiment is a fun way to make this cutting-edge topic more accessible. Have a listen and 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤! Quantum technologies are one of the focus areas of the Global Forum on Technology. Stay tuned for forthcoming work as we : ➡ build an early foundation for governments to understand these technologies, their benefits and risks; ➡ outline the policy opportunities and challenges in unlocking these benefits and mitigating these risks. Congratulations to Banca d'Italia, for convening this week’s G7 Workshop - Building a quantum safe financial system, under the Italian #G7 Presidency. It was a timely opportunity urging financial institutions to start upgrading their systems to protect against cybersecurity threats enabled by #quantumcomputing. While experts agree that capable quantum computers are still several years away, the transition to quantum-resilient solutions will follow a similar timeframe. OECD GFTech team engaged with Banca d'Italia, Deutsche Bundesbank, Banque de France, Bank of Canada, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Federal Reserve Board, Reserve Bank of Australia, Bank of England, Bank for International Settlements – BIS, Swift, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), the European Commission (DG CONNECT), The World Bank, the Quantum Safe Financial Forum, and others. We enjoyed a warm welcome from Banca d'Italia DG Luigi Federico Signorini; An insightful keynote to level-set on quantum computing from Max Planck Professor Ignacio Cirac. 👉 #OECD’s Elizabeth T. chaired the opening panel on opportunities and challenges with Tanja Lange, Isabelle Noblesse, @Vasileios Rentoumis, Marco Pistoia, Olivier Lantran, and Jaime Gómez García. Welcomed the frank discussions and demonstrations of solutions available to bolster security. Thank you Giuseppe Bruno and team. The workshop showcased several cooperation opportunities between the academic world, the financial sector, supervisory and market authorities, and tech companies to implement encryption techniques resistant to #quantumcomputing. Though there are calls for an internationally coordinated approach, national security concerns often pose significant obstacles. The @OECD GFTech focus group on quantum technologies facilitated by Andrés Barreneche García is exploring avenues towards human-centric and values-based development of the technologies through international collaboration.

🌍 Events like last week's "The Human Future: What's on the horizon?" by OECD GFTech are not only key to learning about different perspectives and ideas. It is a contribution to the co-evolutionary network between innovation, social learning and social structure that allows us to move forward. Today's challenges of the #tripletransition are far too complex for any one nation or organization to solve alone. Some of the statements that keep me occupied: ⏰ We are not prepared for what has already happened. 📽 Who has the power to define what's desirable and preferable? 🛸 We are futures illiterates. 🏰 #Inclusivity is not about opening the castle gate and letting some people in. 👉 #Innovation exacerbates inequality. ❔ What are the right questions when engaging with stakeholders? 🚅 Does #sustainability need a rebranding? Judith Rabfogel-Scheer Michael Brugger Claudia Reinprecht Thanks to OECD - OCDE and the OECD GFTech team around Elizabeth T. and David Winickoff for the intriguing event on #responsibleTechGovernance #futurethinking #challengeYourNarrative #transformation
