🤔 Wondering if carbon capture solutions can replace emission reductions? These solutions, known as carbon dioxide removal (CDR), are not meant to replace emission reductions but rather act as backup solutions. They are crucial but cannot solely replace emission reduction efforts. 🛑 CDR plays a significant role in limiting global warming to 1.5°C or 2°C. Without CDR, achieving these goals would be extremely challenging. It offsets emissions from sectors that cannot fully decarbonize or transition quickly. 📉 Moreover, if warming exceeds 1.5°C, there's hope to reduce temperatures through negative emissions. 🇵🇪 For the first time in Peru, we have initiated a comprehensive training program focused on climate change education as part of the #ALEC project. This pioneering effort aligns with our broader mission to extend the reach of quality climate education globally. In a recent interview, Juana sono Hernandez, Executive Secretary of the National Council for Education - Consejo Nacional de Educación del Perú (CNE), outlined how the CNE is developing long-term educational policies with a focus on sustainability and climate change. This collaboration represents a significant milestone, as over 180 teachers are being equipped to address the challenges of climate change. 🗣️ "The CNE works with the vision that all individuals develop and prosper, contributing to environmental sustainability. This effort is crucial to facing the educational challenges of the future," Juana remarked. We are proud to partner with Juana and the CNE, and we look forward to the positive impact this initiative will have on educators and students in Peru. The Office for Climate Education (OCE) participated in the Climademy Summer School, held in Marathon, Greece, from June 30 to July 3. 🇬🇷 This training is part of the #Climademy project, an initiative which aims to create a #European network of teachers equipped with comprehensive climate change education tools. 🌍 🇪🇺 Simon Klein, our scientific mediator, conducted workshops on the greenhouse effect, the carbon cycle, and addressing emotions related to climate change. 🔍 Learn more about the event 👉https://bit.ly/4df5S1x

We believe that teachers have a key role in the global climate response 💪 As we gear up for #COP29 in Azerbaijan this November, we invite all educators—teachers, trainers, principals, and inspectors—to submit projects that have contributed to implement climate change education. 👩🏫 What is TeachersCOP?  Initiated by the Office for Climate Education (OCE), the TeachersCOP is a unique international event that brings the efforts and innovations of educators to the attention of global decision-makers. Curtain falls on the second edition of the Climate Education Summer University! #CESU2024 🌎 As part of the EU Project ESM2025 - H2020 project, 30 teachers and trainers from 15 #EU countries participated in the second edition of the #CESU, organized at the Météo-France campus in Toulouse. Designed and led by the OCE team and the ESM2025 - H2020 project research team, the program included: - Scientific conferences on climate models, focusing on terrestrial radiation and the greenhouse gas mechanism. 🌐 - Project-based pedagogy workshops on the cryosphere.🌊 - Role-playing games on extreme events and climate uncertainties with Ana Clara Cassanti 🎲 - Conferences on food and agriculture. 🌾 - Workshops on emotions and future narratives. 📖 - Exploration of OCE’s educational resources, particularly the new educational manual “Climate Models” produced as part of this project. 📈 - Additional activities such as visiting the urban high school Vitry, a Toulouse institution engaged in an eco-school approach, and the presentation of the comic book “Climate Horizons” by Iris Dion. 🏫 Thanks to the participants for their motivation throughout the week! 👏 #ESM202Eeducation Learn more about the project there 👉 https://bit.ly/3Y8aJ08
