Personalized multiplex blood testing platform to monitor chronic diseases

À propos

Founded in 2019, Omini is developing the first point-of-care blood biomarker monitoring platform to transform the lives of patients suffering from chronic diseases, using its unique multiplex electrochemical biosensor technology. Multiplexing provides personalized blood biomarker data that can be used to adjust therapies and prevent acute crises in patients with chronic conditions. The affordable device combines a portable reader and single-use test strips, similar to a glucometer, simultaneously measuring four to ten blood biomarkers from a single capillary blood sample. It can be used at home or in outpatient care facilities to help relieve the burden on healthcare systems. Omini is currently developing the first application of its solution for heart failure patients, a fast-growing disease nicknamed ‘the silent killer.’

✍ A group of European entrepreneurs and investors have launched EU Inc., a petition to create a single pan-European startup entity under the 28th regime. The petition calls for building a true single market for a simpler cross-border collaboration process, as the current national border limitations stifle momentum. The new entity would be in charge of creating a standardized investment process across Europe, establish unified employee stock options, simplify cross-border operations and full digitize the incorporation process online. 🤝 By having a unified and simple legal framework this make it easier for startups to offer employee equity, attract investment and scale up their projects. This critical initiative would improve the chances of startup sucess in Europe, especially when sectors like MedTech struggle with market access. With an open and unified market outlined by EU Inc and the 28th regime Europe could become a more attractive place for new talent and investors 👏 Read more about EU Inc 👇 https://lnkd.in/ebG8YzqX #EU #startups #innovation #28regime #EUcommission #tech

🚀 Inside Omini: Spotlighting our Biochemistry Team Welcome to our new series where we take you into a deeper journey of Omini's inner workings 👋 Today we are highlighting our dynamic duo Pascal and Arielle, who work in one of our R&D sub teams. Their focus is on the development of our bioelectronic sensors. Their roles are essential in ensuring our device can accurately detect key biomarkers. 💥Pascal Preira, PhD. is a senior researcher specializing in biology and sensor functionalization, who holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Aix-Marseille University. At Omini, Pascal is leading the development of our biological sensors, where he is in charge of making sure the sensor functional, so that we can detect a range of biomarkers from a small blood sample. The advantage of our technology is that we can measure multiple biomarkers at the same time from the same sample. 💥Arielle NDA is an engineering student at the ESILV - Ecole Supérieure d'Ingénieurs Léonard de Vinci and junior researcher at Omini. She works closely with Pascal on the manufacturing, development and characterization of our Organic Electro-Chemical Transistor (OECT) device. Arielle recently spent the summer at the bioelectronics lab at the University of Cambridge 🏫 🥼 A key part of their role is to ensure our sensors are functional, which involves many lab experiments to make sure our metal sensors are up to the job! Their focus and synergy are around the parts of our sensors that require biochemistry skills. Together, they are working on protein and metabolite biomarkers, improving key performance parameters such as dynamic range, sensitivity, specificity, etc using their scientific expertise. With this expert duo working hard on our sensor functionalization, we are confident we will be able to deliver a point-of-care multiplexing blood testing device that will revolutionize the management of chronic diseases to better patient lives and reduce existing burdens on the healthcare system 🏥 #bioelectronics #biology #pointofcare #diagnostics #bloodtesting #chronicdisease #heartfailure #researchanddevelopment

🔍 A research team led by Dr. Paul M. Ridker at Brigham and Women's Hospital published new research on whether blood measures of cholesterol and inflammation could predict cardiovascular disease decades later in women. If so, blood tests could help guide preventive treatments 🤔 The study of 28,000 blood samples and medical information from patients across the US found that 3,662 participants experienced a heart attack, stroke, surgery to restore circulation, or a cardiovascular-related death🩸 Participants were grouped into five categories, ranging from those with the highest to lowest levels of each of the three markers - LDL cholesterol, Lp(a) and CRP. They found women with the highest levels of all three markers had more than 1.5 times the risk for stroke and more than triple the risk for coronary heart disease compared to women with the lowest levels. This research by Dr Ridker and his team shows how biomarker monitoring can be essential in the prevention of cardiovascular events, as high levels of these markers can be treated with widely available therapies such as statins. 🏥 For Omini, blood biomarker monitoring for the prevention and management of chronic diseases is at the heart of our mission. Through our point-of- care blood testing device, which has applications in home and outpatient care we aim to support the early-detection and management of chronic conditions like heart failure so we can help manage patients as early as possible and relieve the burden on hospitals. https://lnkd.in/eH8jQ_eS #research #bloodtesting #cardiovascular #womenshealth #diagnostics #cholesterol

The Heart Failure Group of the French Society of Cardiology has launched the first national information and screening day dedicated to heart failure across 24 hospitals in France. 🏥 In a world first, these hospitals will be able to provide screenings for a specific biomarker (NtproBNP) on a national scale. Screenings will take place between September and December 2024. Patients identified with suspected heart failure will be referred to a cardiologist for further testing and management.
