Good vision changes everything, especially for youth relying on clear vision to see the school board, keep up in their classes and build social confidence. Prioritizing vision care from an early age is essential. Harmony, a seven-year-old in the United States, had her eyes examined and received a pair of glasses to set her up for success scholastically and beyond. #TheRightToSee #GoodVisionChangesEverything #SeeMoreBeMore

Over the past few weeks, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation has made significant strides in providing vision care access to communities in Africa. Anurag Hans the Head of Mission at EssilorLuxottica and President of the Foundation celebrated these landmark achievements with the team in-person, commemorating the establishment of new and innovative programs alongside partnerships with governments and local health organizations to enhance community health and well-being. Here's what we achieved: Successfully established the 'Vula Amehlo' program that equips optometry graduates with the resources to set up their own container vision centers in South Africa. We launched a program aimed at enabling skilled, unemployed optometrists to open their own optical stores. The program has supported 13 unemployed optometrists in rural Zambia and has plans to support 11 more with this entrepreneurship model, accelerating the delivery of vision care where it was previously unavailable in Zambia. We opened new access points in Nigeria in collaboration with the government and an optometry association, taking us closer to our goal of setting up 63 access points by the end of the year. We officially created an access point program in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health. This year, we aim to establish 25 access points in Ethiopia, including 5 vision care centers and 20 tele-refraction sites. Last but not least, our Global Head of Advocacy and Partnerships, Kovin Naidoo, was recently awarded the South African Optometric Association (SAOA) Centennial Celebration Community Service award, recognizing his exceptional dedication to consistently providing eye care to communities and individuals. We’re incredibly proud of the work we have accomplished so far this month in Africa and globally. Last month, we teamed up with the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation for our first vision clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 100 vision impairments were corrected, and glasses were given to those in need, including 7-year-old Jaycelyn. Jaycelyn loves to play basketball and draw colorful anime characters. She was excited to receive her first pair of glasses – and we’re excited to see how these glasses support her future athletic and artistic endeavors! Watch this video for a glimpse into the impact of our vision clinics and follow OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation to learn more about their mission to provide life-changing vision care. #LensCrafters #BecauseSight #APlaceForVisionaries #SeeMoreBeMore #GoodVisionChangesEverything #TheRightToSee

Funding subsidized and free services is a crucial part of delivering good vision to people around the world. Providing vision care access to those in need would not be possible without the help of volunteer optometrists willing to offer their specialized skills like Dr. Stacy. We believe that everyone has ‘The Right To See’ – our volunteers are working to make this mission a reality. Thank you to Dr. Stacy and all of our volunteers. #TheRightToSee #GoodVisionChangesEverything #SeeMoreBeMore

In partnership with 4 universities, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation yesterday officially announced the launch of the ‘Vula Amehlo’ program in South Africa. It is a first-of-its-kind graduate development initiative that provides optometry graduates the opportunity to open up their own modular eye care business in a rural location, where access to vision care services is not readily available. “We are excited about furthering the reach of vision care services more widely across South Africa, but also to actively contribute to job creation for graduates who have invested in their education towards an aspect of healthcare where great needs still exist,” shared Lameez Eksteen, Country Manager for the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation in South Africa. With 10 sites now open across Limpopo, KZN and Gauteng, we look forward to helping communities in South Africa see more and be more through the ‘Vula Amehlo’ program. 👓❤️
