So, How Does the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) Actually Work? For brands committed on the road to sustainable discloser, accurately measuring environmental impact is crucial. But how can brands get started? On October 18, we presented to a lively crowd of joint members of the European Outdoor Group (EOG) and BSI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Sportartikelindustrie e.V. on the importance of the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology, as the standardized approach to assessing environmental impact across a product’s lifecycle. For brands aiming to build transparency and trust, #PEF provides clarity not just on the product-level for materials sourcing, and production processes but also Scope 3 emissions and corporate footprinting. But how exactly does it work? And where does the data actually come from? Our latest blog post explains how PEF actually works, with key terminology you need to know. Stay tuned for Part 2 on lifecycle analysis and real-world examples of PEF in action. Can't wait for the next one? You can sign up for a demo now to learn more. https://lnkd.in/gNMAtymh

Peftrust sets the stage for the "VOICE-Like" Ecodesign Challenge! 🎤👖 Last week, we had the pleasure of joining the ED Transformers event in Paris, organized by COSE361 and the Transformers Foundation. The event brought together 80 fashion design students for a day focused on sustainability in fashion, and we couldn’t have been more excited to be part of it! But this was no ordinary seminar—it was a fashion version of THE VOICE! 🎶 Just like contestants on the show, these students took on a challenge: to design a pair of jeans with the lowest environmental impact using the Peftrust platform. After a quick onboarding session on our #PEF (Product Environmental Footprint) tool, the students broke into teams and began experimenting with different materials, processes, and sourcing options to reduce their impact scores. 🎬 The contestants presented their eco-design strategies to a panel of denim experts, including denim industry veterans Nicolas Prophte & Steve Duhamel, focusing on materials, finishing processes, and sustainability. 🌟 Group Seven won with an impressive PEF score of 8 points per day of use for their laser-washed denim design! Huge thanks to COSE361 and the Transformers Foundation for having us! 🙌 We loved seeing these future fashion pros embrace sustainability through creative, data-driven design. A Big Merci to Stephane POPESCU for this opportunity to give back and to the Transformers Foundation for making it possible. #Sustainability #FashionInnovation #Ecodesign #Peftrust #FutureOfFashion

The Peftrust team had a fantastic time in Hem, Northern France, on Friday, September 20th, contributing to Eco-design Day organized by KIABI for their Collection teams. The event featured six engaging workshops, during which participants broke out into small groups to explore various aspects of eco-design. Peftrust® led a workshop on "Measuring and Managing Eco-design Using Life Cycle Analysis." Throughout the day, six groups of 15 people took part in activities that included: -A fun quiz on the impact of textile materials and footwear. -Insights into how Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) can pinpoint hotspots and strategies for reducing product footprints. -Hands-on use of the Eco-design module in the Peftrust platform to create the most environmentally friendly jeans possible! It was inspiring to witness the teams' creativity as they adjusted materials and processes, aiming for a record of low 1400 PEF points with a pair of demo jeans. We saw everything from 100% linen jeans (where did the denim go?) to innovative designs like jeans without legs or buttons—a standout creation that didn’t quite 'walk away' with the jury’s approval! A big thank you to Océane Dussart and Caroline BOTTIN for the invitation, and to all the participants for their incredible energy. We left feeling inspired and full of ideas to keep improving our platform. Looking forward to the next round! #Ecodesign #SustainableFashion #PEF #KIABI #ecodesign

📢 July 25th Consultation: Key Updates to the French Environmental Footprint Framework Last week, we attended a crucial meeting with the French CGDD (General Commissioner for Sustainable Development), where significant updates were proposed for calculating the #environmentalfootprint of fashion products. Here are some of the highlights: ➡ Non-physical Durability: Simplified Criteria: Removal of "material" and “commercialization duration” indices. Adjusted Range: Non-physical durability range changed from [0.5; 1.5] to [0.67; 1.45]. Repair Intensity and Collection Range: Adjustments made to these indices. ➡Life Cycle Methodology: Raw Materials: Introduce new raw materials, and a default material was created for the proxy. Pretreatments and Printing: Selection criteria for pretreatments and types of printing. ➡Category Methodology: Linings: Added as an option. New Categories: Inclusion of sportswear, lingerie, hoodies, gloves, scarves, and more. Trims: Integration into the methodology. ➡Empreinte Database: Availability: Desegregated datasets of the #Empreinte database will be available by autumn. ➡Timeline: Publication Goal: Decree for level 1 data expected to be published by the end of 2024. Stay tuned as Peftrust continues to integrate these updates into our platform, keeping our clients at the forefront of #sustainable fashion innovation. #LCA #coutenvironnemental #fashion #mode

Ready to make sustainable products the norm? The EU is, and Peftrust can help. The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (#ESPR) became effective on July 18, 2024. It introduces more ecodesign criteria for a broader range of products and aims to make sustainable products the norm in the EU market. The Ecodesign directive and ESPR are part of the European Green Deal's extensive regulatory framework. In addition to Ecodesign criteria, the ESPR will introduce a Digital Product Passport (#DPP) for all regulated products. A sustainable product is likely to display one or more of the following characteristics: ➡Uses less energy ➡Lasts longer ➡Can be easily repaired ➡Parts can be easily disassembled and reused ➡Contains fewer substances of concern ➡Can be easily recycled ➡Contains more recycled content ➡Has a lower carbon and environmental footprint over its lifecycle Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/gVkyJpJx How does Peftust help? Our eco-design platform directly addresses your team's biggest challenges head-on. Check out the top 4 challenges and top 4 ways we will accelerate your eco-design strategy below. #Sustainability #EcoDesign #Peftrust #GreenDeal #ProductDevelopment #EnvironmentalImpact #CircularEconomy
