The French Army receives its first 300 Bi-NYX night vision binoculars equipped with Photonis 4G technology The French Army has recently strengthened its night combat capabilities with the delivery of 300 Bi-NYX night vision binoculars, equipped with Photonis 4G image intensifier tubes. As part of this modernization effort, the older Lucie night vision goggles are being replaced by the more advanced Nellie model, both developed by Thales. Ordered in a batch of about 2 000 units by the DGA - Direction générale de l'armement (the French armament procurement agency) , the new binoculars provide enhanced resolution and a wider field of view, allowing soldiers to operate more effectively in low-light conditions. A key feature of the Bi-NYX binoculars is the integration of Photonis 4G technology, which delivers high-resolution images and superior visibility in low light environments. This technology greatly enhances detection, recognition, and identification capabilities, giving soldiers a significant tactical advantage during nighttime operations. Photonis wins key role in UK MoD’s Talon fused weapon sight contract Photonis, an Exosens subsidiary and global leader in image intensification technology, has been awarded a significant role in a seven-year contract from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) in collaboration with Qioptiq Limited. This contract, is aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness of British Army assault rifles. Awarded by the Dismounted Close Combat project team, the contract focuses on the continued procurement of the TALON Fused Weapon Sight, an advanced system that integrates image intensification with thermal imaging. Photonis will supply the high-performance 4G 16mm image intensifier tubes for the TALON systems, contributing to the overall performance and reliability of these critical combat devices. Intensified UV camera Photonis iNocturn, or Intensified Nocturn, is an intensified camera core especially designed for UV detection. Combining an image intensifier tube and a low-light Nocturn camera core, the iNocturn offers the advantages of image intensification technology with a high performance CMOS sensor based on a Nocturn camera core. The iNocturn covers a wide range of wavelengths from UV to Near Infrared allowing the user to focus on a specific wavelength for a particular application. System integrators can benefit from the technology in different wavelength spectrum (from 200 nm to 1100 nm), offering a world of possibilities for a plethora of applications like wafer inspection, spectroscopy, microscopy and many more.
