Our ECCE 2023 paper "Multidisciplinary Optimization of an Electrically Excited Synchronous Motor" that JSOL wrote is now available on IEEE Xplore: https://lnkd.in/gCBh25Fb An electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM) is accentuated as a potential traction machine for electric vehicles because of its superior flexibility. However, the field currents in a rotor make obtaining an optimal design difficult. Comprehensive multidisciplinary optimization has even rarely been investigated in past studies because computation should be done at a high volume. In this paper, large-scale finite element analysis-based optimization including magnetics, stress, and thermal is conducted for the EESM. The results show that comprehensive optimization is feasible using high-performance computing and is also necessary to define the optimal EESM design. #JMAG #Optimization #Synchronous #Motor #Thermal JMAG is simulation software for electric device design and development. It accurately models the complex electromagnetic phenomena in a wide range of equipment. Since being released in 1983, JMAG has been used in industries and universities world-wide and has contributed to the development of thousands of products. Continuous communication with our users has made JMAG a world class analysis tool. https://lnkd.in/gpzsudVZ
