A MOVEMENT WITH MEANING Relais & Châteaux, established in 1954, is an association of 580 unique hotels and restaurants throughout the world, operated by independent owners – most often families – who are passionate about their craft and deeply committed to forging warm, lasting relationships with their guests. Relais & Châteaux members protect and promote the wealth and diversity of the world’s culinary and hospitality traditions, to ensure they continue to thrive. They are equally dedicated to preserving local heritage and the environment, as articulated in the association’s Vision presented at UNESCO in November 2014.

    Our Delegation Meeting season has officially started, bringing together our members from the Germany & Austria delegation at Hotel Bareiss. Das Resort im Schwarzwald. in Baiersbronn, Germany.   Over two days, international and local discussions shaped our vision for the year to come, complemented by dedicated one-to-one meetings with our teams and partners. As the oldest Relais & Châteaux member in Germany, Hotel Bareiss was the perfect setting for this gathering, reflecting decades of dedication to hospitality. We also celebrated Restaurant Lafleur, which received its 10-year anniversary certificate as a proud member of the association.   The experience was enriched by a gourmet dinner by three-star Michelin Chef Claus-Peter Lumpp, followed by an unforgettable “Hüttengaudi” – a traditional evening in a secluded forest cabin.   A heartfelt thank you to all who took part in this inspiring gathering and to the Bareiss family, including Hermann Bareiss, whose passion and service culture continue to inspire. #RelaisChateaux

    This week, Paul Marcon has won the international Bocuse d'Or final, thirty years after his father. The prestigious distinction was awarded to chef Marcon in Lyon on January 27, during the twentieth edition of the World Cuisine Competition created in 1987 by chef Paul Bocuse. Thirty years after his father, Régis Marcon, and twenty years after the late Serge Vieira, Paul Marcon has added his name to the list of winners of this competition, which brought together 24 international teams in two events: the plate and the platter. The chef was able to convince the jury by highlighting the gastronomic heritage of his region through a plate combining green apple and Chartreuse with the imposed products (celery, lean and lobster). As for the platter theme, Paul was able to make a nod to his origins by cooking the mushrooms in all the preparations. France completed a double by also winning the Best Commis Award, thanks to Camille Pigot. Paul Marcon works alongside his father and brother at the “Régis et Jacques Marcon” Les Maisons Marcon restaurant, a member of Relais & Châteaux and awarded three stars and a green star in the Michelin guide.
