Over the past days, teams have taken on three new, challenging labs: - Maze: An Active Directory lab where participants navigated a Kerberos attack vector impacting user account attributes before targeting the domain. - DataCrypt: A scenario depicting a Windows machine compromised by ransomware, with participants needing to analyze the situation and devise an effective response. - Skeleton: A critical incident response scenario where participants investigated a possible full compromise of a Linux machine, isolating the threat and conducting a thorough investigation. With many teams tied for the lead and only two labs remaining, every point is crucial in this thrilling final stretch. After 11 intense days of competition, the updated rankings for the ECOWAS Hackathon are in! Participants have been showcasing their cybersecurity expertise as they take on new and challenging labs. Recently, competitors tackled two demanding labs: - EggShell: This lab challenged participants to identify and exploit known vulnerabilities in Windows Server environments, requiring skills in reconnaissance, enumeration, and lateral movement to compromise the target Domain Controller and obtain sensitive information. - Knock It: Participants worked on network packet analysis, uncovering hidden network infrastructures, detecting misconfigurations, and using this intel to gain access to systems and escalate privileges. The competition is fierce, but there’s still time to climb the leaderboard and secure your spot in the finals. After four days of intense cyber battles, the intermediate rankings for the ECOWAS Commission Hackathon are in! Over 4000 participants from 16 countries across West Africa have been competing fiercely, showcasing their cybersecurity skills in various challenging labs. So far, participants have tackled some demanding scenarios: -Text4Shell & CVE-2023-22809: Participants exploited a vulnerable Tomcat server to gain a foothold, followed by privilege escalation using a vulnerable sudoedit. A rigorous test of both exploitation and privilege escalation techniques. -Logusus: A FastAPI, VueJS, and MongoDB Back-office dashboard filled with vulnerabilities. From account takeovers to business logic flaws, this lab challenged participants to identify and exploit critical weaknesses in modern web applications. - Green: This lab pushed participants to exploit web application vulnerabilities and leverage misconfigurations in a Linux environment. It required a deep understanding of web exploitation techniques to gain unauthorized access and retrieve sensitive information from the target system. But the competition is far from over! There’s still plenty of time for teams to climb the leaderboard and secure their spot in the finals. Every challenge is a new opportunity to demonstrate resilience, innovation, and technical expertise. To all the teams: keep refining your strategies and pushing the limits.
