𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺𝘀 🔬 The 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 is vast and its 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 staggering, but it is very difficult to reach. 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺𝘀 live in virtually 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, including those considered extreme due to their high temperature, pH, salinity, or concentration of pollutants. The physiological and biochemical potential of microbes living within these extreme environments is enormous. ⚪ To fully describe these microorganisms and reveal their vast potential, it is necessary to obtain them in pure culture. To do this, 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 (in respect of Nagoya Protocol) and adapt culture conditions to 𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝗮𝗻)𝗮𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺𝘀 with the desired properties (enzymes, metabolites etc.). The western corn rootworm (WCR), Diabrotica virgifera virgifera, is a 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝘀𝘁 that has invaded many corn-producing regions around the world. 🌿 These new proteins identified from 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 are very promising. They possess a 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 compared with commercial toxins, a 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆*.
