[New production unit] SEQENS starts a new production unit for Highly Potent APIs (HPAPI) in France!   𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗣𝗜? Research has made it possible to develop increasingly effective treatments for serious illnesses, and this has led to the development of drugs with increasingly powerful active ingredients, called HPAPIs.   HPAPIs are often the result of 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. They represent a major advance in medicine and treatment and we're proud to be able to produce them in France, at our Aramon site. [Innovation] 👨🔬 🏆 This year, the The Nobel Prize of Chemistry has awarded major discoveries regarding protein engineering:   ➡️ David Baker for computational protein design: based on in silico design followed by in vitro expression to confirm the model, he successfully created a protein exhibiting a folding which wasn’t previously observed in nature and used this ability to engineer proteins for various functions of interest. For example, his team designed specific proteins able to bind to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, leaving the virus unable to infect cells.   ➡️ Demis Hassabis and John Jumper from Google DeepMind for protein 3D structure prediction using Artificial Intelligence. This enables scientists to use this model for proteins only known by their sequence of amino acids.   Following the Nobel prize awarded to Frances Arnold in 2018 for the directed evolution of enzymes, this is another recognition for the field of protein engineering, this time for in silico methods.   At SEQENS, we empower innovation to bring the best solutions to our customers, with a constant concern for sustainability.   🔬 Through our site of Nîmes (France) and Protéus by Seqens, SEQENS has internal capabilities for protein engineering in order to optimize enzymes functions. We are delighted to announce the commissioning and start-up of a new production unit for Highly Potent API (HPAPI) at our Aramon site! 💊 This new unit, representing an investment of almost 30 million euros supported by the #France2030 program, is synonymous with versatility and innovation. It will enable sustainable and competitive production of many molecules, by implementing multiple chemical reactions. This expansion completes our 𝗚𝗠𝗣 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 (intermediates, APIs, encapsulation polymers) by combining these technologies with the handling of highly active molecules.
