What criteria should be used to evaluate the radiation resistance of star trackers? ☢️ Radiation resistance is a crucial factor for the longevity of space related equipment, often expressed by the level of tolerance to the total ionizing dose in krad Is it really all there is to it? 👩🔬 👨🔬 In fact, this measurement alone does not guarantee the overall resistance to radiation effects. For most missions lasting less than 15 years, the limiting factor with the greatest impact on star tracking performance will be proton-induced displacement damage on the image sensor. Lunar positioning and navigation will be a great challenge for future exploration mission, but there is a great community of engineers preparing the future!

🛰️ What better occasion than our #SPiNSpirit at #IAC2024 to announce the agreement between #SPiN and Sodern! 🛰️ Thanks to this agreement, SPiN and #Sodern, a subsidiary of ArianeGroup, will collaborate to launch an In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) mission. The mission aims to validate the compatibility and interactions between SPiN's #MA61C-CubeSat board and the #Auriga Star Tracker provided by #Sodern, as well as to test the updated software of the Auriga system. SPiN will integrate Auriga's software into the MA61C-CubeSat to manage all space operations. For this mission, SPiN will be responsible for integrating and testing the combined unit for flight.
