🎀 In the run up to International Women’s Day, we look back at a recent networking event where women from engineering, operations, finance, and beyond came together to connect and share their experiences in the renewables sector. The IEA reports that women remain significantly underrepresented in energy, with 76% fewer women than men in the industry. At Sonnedix, we are committed to driving change by ensuring equal opportunities and encouraging more women to pursue careers in renewables. Our 2024-2030 DE&I Manifesto underscores this commitment to fostering inclusion and diversity. 🎉 Sonnedix reaches nearly 500 MW in renewable energy capacity in Portugal!   We have achieved this major milestone following the acquisition of two ready-to-build renewable energy projects in Northern Portugal. Once complete, these projects will generate enough energy to power almost 40,000 homes and avoid over 42,000 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year!   These acquisitions build on our significant portfolio in the country, including the 150 MW Project Douro, one of our largest European projects to date, which has achieved mechanical completion this month.   🚀 Having first entered into the Portuguese market in 2022, these achievements reflect our rapid growth in the country, and are a credit to the work of our brilliant #OneTeam. 🏆 Celebrating Sonnedix’s First UNEF Sustainability Seal 🏆 We’re delighted to be awarded the UNEF Sustainability Seal for our 20 MW El Carrascal plant, located in Andalusia, Spain. The UNEF Sustainability Seal is an award given to companies that demonstrate best practices in the Spanish photovoltaic industry. El Carrascal was awarded for its innovative approach to sustainability, including its use of cutting-edge renewable technology, biodiversity conservation efforts, and commitment to minimising environmental impact. Last week, during Sustainability Day at the Spanish Congress of Deputies, the official certificate was presented to Carolina Nester, representing Sonnedix at the event.
