Worth a read for anyone curious about how our devices communicate beyond cell towers. 👀🔍 Apple’s satellite messaging system was a black box - until now. Researchers have dissected how iPhones connect to satellites for emergency texts, exposing protocol details, message structures, and security gaps. Understanding these vulnerabilities is critical, especially as satellite connectivity becomes more integrated into consumer devices. Security in space isn’t just for astronauts anymore - it’s now a concern for everyday users. Inside Apple's proprietary satellite communication protocol and the vulnerabilities that were found. :) 🛰️📱⚒️🔍 Apple Support states, "With iPhone 14 or later (all models), you can connect your iPhone to a satellite to text emergency services." However, there was no information on how it works - until now. A group of security researchers has presented their work, detailing how iPhones communicate with satellite networks, including protocol specifics, message structure, and the security vulnerabilities they discovered during their research. Highly detailed and well-structured - a great example of academic research. More details: Paper "Starshields for iOS: Navigating the Security Cosmos in Satellite Communication" [PDF]: https://lnkd.in/dcs3Ni4u Apple Support article: https://lnkd.in/dzqAYXWA If you're interested in Apple's proprietary protocols, check out another post about the Apple Watch.: https://lnkd.in/dE47bCUS #technology #hacking #security #cyber #hardware #iPhone #apple #iOS #proprietary #innovation #satellite #communication #privacy

A U.S. court has ruled that AI-generated work cannot be copyrighted without human authorship. This decision reinforces that only creations made by humans qualify for copyright protection.

🚨 BREAKING: U.S. Court of Appeals REJECTS copyright protection for AI-generated work WITHOUT a human author. The court rules that there MUST be a human being involved. Quick summary of the case: "In this case, a computer scientist attributes authorship of an artwork to the operation of software. Dr. Stephen Thaler created a generative artificial intelligence named the 'Creativity Machine.' The Creativity Machine made a picture that Dr. Thaler titled 'A Recent Entrance to Paradise.' Dr. Thaler submitted a copyright registration application for 'A Recent Entrance to Paradise' to the United States Copyright Office. On the application, Dr. Thaler listed the Creativity Machine as the work’s sole author and himself as just the work’s owner. - The Copyright Office denied Dr. Thaler’s application based on its established human-authorship requirement. This policy requires work to be authored in the first instance by a human being to be eligible for copyright registration. Dr. Thaler sought review of the Office’s decision in federal district court and that court affirmed. - We affirm the denial of Dr. Thaler’s copyright application. The Creativity Machine cannot be the recognized author of a copyrighted work because the Copyright Act of 1976 requires all eligible work to be authored in the first instance by a human being. Given that holding, we need not address the Copyright Office’s argument that the Constitution itself requires human authorship of all copyrighted material. Nor do we reach Dr. Thaler’s argument that he is the work’s author by virtue of making and using the Creativity Machine because that argument was waived before the agency." 👉 Link to the decision below. 👉 Subscribe to my AI governance newsletter and join 55,800+ people who never miss my updates. #AI #AIGovernance #AICopyright #HumanAuthorship

Some people frequently (rightly) point out that AIs make mistakes and are not reliable. And hallucinations may, indeed, never completely be solved. But I am not sure that matters much in the future. Larger and more advanced models already make far less errors than older LLMs & many real-world processes are built with error-prone humans in mind. There may be applications in which LLMs will never be suitable just as there are applications where LLMs are good enough today. There are likely many others where LLMs will become suitable as error rates drop through continued model development. And there are likely many more where a mix of processes and technology could make LLMs work well. I wouldn't bet on hallucinations as a long-term barrier to AI use in many roles.

Awww cute and impressive! 🚀🤖 NVIDIA, Google DeepMind, and Disney Research have teamed up to create Blue, a Star Wars robot with real personality. The key tech behind this is the Newton physics engine, an open-source simulator designed to help robots learn and interact more naturally with the world. This engine is set to improve how robots move, react, and engage audiences emotionally, creating more immersive and joyful experiences. A great leap forward in both robotics and entertainment! #ai #startwithwcpgw #wcpgw
Oh my.. this is too cute. NVIDIA showcases Blue, a cute little Star Wars robot with personality developed by Disney and Google DeepMind. One of the biggest pieces of tech behind Blue is the newly announced Newton physics engine, an open-source simulator designed specifically for robotics. Newton was developed with Google DeepMind and Disney Research, and it’s meant to improve how robots learn and interact with the real world. They are told what to do using a console controller. These robots are developed to enhance storytelling, making experiences more immersive and emotionally engaging for audiences. They aim to create a unique sense of "joy" while robots are present. "AI will write 100% of all code in 2026" 🔊 🤖
🚨 "AI will write 100% of all code in 2026" "In the next 3 to 6 months, AI is writing 90% of the code, and then in 12 months, nearly all code will be generated by AI." Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei Anthropic is known for creating some of the best AI tools for coding. Soon, most coding tasks will be done by AI according to Amodei. This means coders might focus more on checking and refining AI-generated code rather than writing from scratch. Coders will need to adapt and learn to collaborate effectively with AI tools. But will this make coders more productive or replace their roles entirely? New research exposes six attacks on Siemens S7 PLCs - even with TLS 1.3 enabled. Hackers can steal private keys, inject malicious code, and fully impersonate PLCs. Critical infrastructure is at risk. Security isn’t optional. Demand secure products. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts Denis Laskov ♻️ Repost to raise awareness on ICS security. Taking over the plant, one ICS at a time: 6 new attacks target the latest Siemens S7 secure protocol for industrial systems. 🏭 👨🏻💻 💥 Security researchers from Technion shared their analysis of the latest version of the Siemens S7 proprietary communication protocol with TLS 1.3 enabled. In their paper, "Nope, S7ill Not Secure: Stealing Private Keys From S7 PLCs," the researchers demonstrate how an attacker can extract private keys, install a rogue client on the network, inject malicious code into a PLC, and perform full PLC impersonation and MITM attacks. Quite impressive, considering that some high-profile industrial plants and research facilities have been running this equipment. And yes - Dear Customers, Demand Secure Products!! :) More details: Paper: https://lnkd.in/dBURyDGd Presentation: https://lnkd.in/dk5mKDuq Video: https://lnkd.in/dQt8TtdB S7 Whitepaper by Siemens: https://lnkd.in/dgwfDHg4 #technology #industrial #embedded #ICS #hacking #security #cyber #cybersecurity #safety #siemens #hardware #data #innovation
