A transdisciplinary network of European researchers who focus on historic and contemporary female labour mobility
À propos
Women on the Move (WEMov) is an international network funded by COST (CA19112) A network of researchers from 52 countries, we are engaged in the timely mission of unveiling women migrants' presence and participation in the construction of Europe. Our transdisciplinary outlook combines a wide variety of expertise in history, sociology, demography, economy, anthropology, political science and the arts, among many other fields. This will foster complementary perspectives to show women migrants' presence, obstacles and capacities in past and present migratory contexts. Women on the Move (CA19112) is a science and technology network funded over a four-year period and developing networking tools to meet the research coordination and capacity building objectives set out in the COST Action’s Memorandum of Understanding. Its Grant Holder is Université de Picardie Jules Verne, and it was previously hosted by Université Paris Cité.

As part of the WEMov project, we focus on objects that hold significance for migrant women. Today's featured object is a Greek Orthodox icon of "Panagia Tricherousa" - the three-handed Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus. Ivana (36) left her native BiH to study in Serbia in 2006. From there, in 2010 she embarked on a journey across Europe - to Aveiro, Portugal, for a 1-year student exchange programme, in the last year of her Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism. She then enrolled in a Master’s programme at her Alma Mater in Aveiro, after which she continued to pursue her academic career and enrolled in Doctoral studies. After four years in Aveiro, Ivana moved to Porto, where she still lives today. For her, the object that best represents her migration experience is Greek Orthodox Icon. #CA19112 #COSTAction #WEMov #EuropeanResearch
