- [Instructor] Making concessions. A fundamental part of almost every negotiation, unless you get very lucky, is making concessions. It's unlikely that your counterpart will agree to everything you propose. There will be some areas where you'll need to compromise. Let's look at some helpful expressions for making concessions during your negotiation. I think we can do that as a simple but effective way to make a concession. Jorge has proposed that in exchange for a 12% price reduction on a large lot of coffee makers, his company will commit to purchasing a similarly large lot within two months. Angelie, whose company is selling the coffee makers, along with a range of other office supplies, says, "I think we can do that, a 12% reduction on this lot, and you'll purchase another lot within two months. Agreed." Another way to present concessions is to offer them in a conditional manner. For example, "We can accept that provided that you" or "We can offer this if you agree to," or "We can…
