Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, which is responsible for transmitting visual information from the eye to the brain. This damage is often caused by elevated intra-ocular pressure (pressure inside the eye), but it can also occur with normal or even low intra-ocular pressure. Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness, worldwide. The two main types are open-angle glaucoma and angle-closure glaucoma. There always seems to be plenty of talk and concern and anecdotes about the intruded acetabular injury in the active elder patient - like this AC/PHTr fracture with its common medial dome impaction. Routine ORIF via an Ilioinguinal exposure allows accurate reduction of the column and impaction fragments. Various clamps can be used to hold the reductions while the implants are applied. The routine fixation construct of buttressing plates, lag screws, and allograft bone graft are shown in these pre and post comparable images. After op, the patients are encouraged to use a walker to aid ambulation when possible (to protect the repair) - but most patients WB as tolerated, so the reduction/fixations must anticipate that reality.
