We recently engaged with municipal leaders across Canada on how the CIB can support the enabling #infrastructure needed for Canada’s #housing needs. The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI)’s latest report shows there are a variety of financing supports, such as leveraging private capital, that can help municipalities to build the infrastructure needed for housing ahead of population growth. Thanks for sharing. Our existing system allows some municipalities to both regulate and deliver water and wastewater servicing. Is it right? Should the two be separated to let the market handle delivery, similar to the delivery of hydro and natural gas? If so, the infrastructure bank can play a major role.

2 moisIt is 2024. We can’t build infrastructure or communities the same way we did in 1964, ‘74 or ‘84. We also can’t finance the growth the same way we did back then. If we are going to unlock new housing we need new new funding and business models.
