Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)! Recently, Gabriela Purri R. Gomes and I have had an opportunity to showcase our game, "Quest for Inclusion - The Game," at the #Inclusion366 Townhall. Inspired by Kat Holmes' quote that "Inclusion starts with recognising that there has been an exclusion" and the Cards for Humanity game by frog, we are developing this card game to spotlight the exclusions often overlooked in current Telco products and services. Our game encourages teams to explore various experience scenarios, fostering discussions that reveal these exclusions and demonstrate how minor adjustments in our systems can make our offerings accessible to everyone. We’ve already received fantastic feedback from several play-tests and showcases. This is a thrilling blend of our dedication to accessibility and our professional roles as Experience and Service Designers. Special thanks to Ole Heydekamp, Hanna Köhler, Nina Hundhausen, and Dagmar Wehr for this incredible opportunity. Looking ahead: Reiterate, Play test, Repeat. MY 3MTT WEEKLY REFLECTION. THE NEED FOR ACCESSIBILITY AND EQUITY-FOCUSED IN DESIGNING. Among the goals of a designer is to build products and experiences that are accessible to users with the widest range of abilities. In other words, no one should be excluded from using a product being built. Accessibility is one aspect of inclusive designing which means designing products, devices, services or platforms for people with disabilities. In our evolving tech world, it has become imperative to consider the excluded groups, like those with physical or cognitive disabilities in order to reach as many audience as possible. As a fellow of the 3MTT program, it is my goal to develop a design that is equity focused. To better under understand this concept, let is look at the meaning of the words 'Equity' and 'Equality'. Equity simply means providing different levels of opportunity and support for each person in order to achieve a fair outcome. While, Equality simply means providing the same level of opportunity and support to all person s. That is to say that every one gets the same thing irrespective of their distinct abilities. So, instead of building products for groups of people who are currently being excluded, I want to build products that meets the needs of specific individuals in a group who have been excluded in the past. #My3MTT #3MTTWeeklyReflection

We asked our Co-Founder Nithya Karthikeyan , "Why do you think inclusion is important in product?" Here’s her response: In product management, understanding the diverse needs of users is paramount. Building inclusive products ensures that we don't leave anyone behind. By embracing diversity and considering the unique perspectives of all users, we create solutions that resonate with a broader audience and foster a sense of belonging for everyone. For instance, when designing an app, it's crucial to ensure that it's accessible to individuals with disabilities. This might involve incorporating features like voice commands or screen readers for visually impaired users. Let's prioritise inclusivity in product development to build a future where no one feels alienated by the products they use.
