In QLD and NSW it’s been raining , really raining. So some thoughts about embracing the Rain: I listened to the steady rhythm of rain against my office window today, a thought struck me—rain, often seen as a disruptor, actually embodies the essence of growth and renewal. Rain is a catalyst for transformation, turning barren landscapes into lush greenery. Similarly, in our personal and professional lives, challenging periods can act as rainstorms, seemingly disruptive but inherently nurturing. In business, like in nature, the most fertile opportunities for growth often come after a downpour. It's in these moments we're pushed to innovate, pivot, and grow stronger. #ProfessionalGrowth #BusinessResilience #EmbraceChange #rain

Should more places start doing this? Cities around the world are ripping up concrete and letting nature thrive instead! It’s called Depaving and it’s gaining massive momentum as a solution to rising temperatures in urban environments.

Greetings from Port Douglas, Queensland! 🌴 I'm here with my family for a short holiday, but we had an unexpected challenge on the day we arrived. The fresh water supplies got shut down due to the damage caused by a recent cyclone that hit this area. 😱 We had no water, so we had to buy mineral water bottles for drinking and other purposes. But having a shower in 2 litres of water is another story! It was not easy, but we managed to do it somehow. 💦 This experience made me realise how often we take the simple things for granted, such as running water, electricity, internet, etc. We don't appreciate them enough until we lose them. We don't show gratitude for the basic amenities that make our lives comfortable and convenient. 🙏 It also made me appreciate how adaptive and resilient we are as humans. When we face challenges, we find ways to cope and overcome them. We adjust to new situations and circumstances. We learn and grow from our difficulties. We don't give up. 💪 So, next time you turn on the tap, flip the switch, or click the mouse, take a moment to be thankful for what you have. And next time you encounter a problem, remember that you have the power to solve it. You are stronger than you think. 😊 What are some of the simple things that you are grateful for? What are some of the challenges that you have overcome?

un futur qui existe déjà....
Another episode of We Will Retreat. We Are Retreating! In case you missed it, another home went to sea this weekend in Rodanthe. There is another debris stream on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore beach. Another busted septic system. Another beach closure. All from a storm hundreds of miles away generating modest swells. Up and down the coast we have opted for unmanaged retreat rather than admit to ourselves that we cannot possibly hold every shoreline in place, forever. This paralysis will cause economic and environmental harm to a growing number of coastal communities as SLR drives continuing shoreline retreat. We are desperately in search of any coastal resort community that would like to work with us on developing a shoreline management plan that includes strategic retreat from those areas that will not be sustainable over the long run. This is the best way to preserve the coastal economy. We need to stop spending so much time and money on those places that are most vulnerable, and focus on the preservation of larger community. It just makes sense. #PSDS #rodanthe #hurricaneernesto #SLR #maladaptation #coastalretreat

When someone asks why I keep going despite rejections and failures, I explain: Consider yourself thirsty in a desert, where the only source of water is buried under the surface. Yes, the digging effort is arduous, and there's a risk you won't discover water right away, but if you don't make the effort, dehydration is guaranteed. It's like digging for life-sustaining water in life, especially during difficult times. The trip may be difficult and full of disappointments, but it is the only way to potential success and fulfillment. The beauty is in the mobility of time; it has the potential to modify conditions. So, for anyone going through a similar phase, realize that it's just a matter of time. Accept the hardship because it sows the seeds of resilience. And as time passes, it brings with it the promise of change and new opportunities. #jobhunt #jobhunters #perseverancia #embracethechallenge
