#Paris2024 #Paralympiques #Goalball 8 days to go until the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games! 🎉 Just a few days before the start of the Paralympics, Gerflor is supporting athlete Gwendoline Matos, Goalball champion. Gwendoline discovered this discipline during a discovery day in Lyon and has become a real fan of this unique sport. Goalball is a Paralympic sport for the visually impaired and blind. It is played 3 against 3. All the players wear a mask so that they are totally blind, and they play a sound ball weighing 1kg250. The aim? To score in the opposing team's half by rolling the ball along the ground, just like in bowling. For Gwendoline, reaching the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games is a dream come true. See you soon on the Olympic field to support her. #Paris2024 #Paralympics #Goalball

World Champions Suhas Yathiraj, Pramod Bhagat, Krishna Nagar, Manasi Joshi, Sumit Antil and Yogesh Kathuniya headline presence of Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024 stars at the Trailblazers Conclave. 7-8 March 2024, Kolkata. When you are fighting for newsprint against cricket, you always have the risk of ending up second best. And when it is an intense Test match in Ranchi that could lead to an Indian series win, it is more so. Thereafter in the evening there is the WPL. No wonder than that Indias gold medal winners at the Para badminton world championships, Suhas Yathiraj, Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar aren’t really celebrated in today’s sports pages. Each has won a world championship gold by the way and in doing so added to our expectations for the Paris Paralympics. Suhas’ reaction has gone viral on social media and is evidence what the gold means to him and his coach Gaurav Khanna. I am delighted to say each one of them, and others like Manasi Joshi who did as well in the world’s, Sumit Antil and Yogesh Kathuniya headline the list of Paralympic champions attending the trailblazers conclave. The idea is to celebrate their journeys and take a step towards equality. While we need to understand how they are all readying themselves for the ultimate Paralympic dream, it is also time to take stock and take a pause. Do we celebrate them enough? Are they still treated as objects of sympathy or are they athletes who deserve much more? How do we accelerate this change? For Suhas, an IAS officer of repute, sport is his means to stay in the zone. Face adversity and get ready for the challenges like Covid. For Sumit Antil, who breaks world records at almost every competition he participates, touching the 75m mark in Javelin is now the goal. Just as we celebrate Neeraj, we will celebrate Sumit. As much as we celebrate Prannoy, we will celebrate Suhas. That’s the idea behind the Trailblazers conclave presented by Tata Steel Let’s make a bold prediction here. India won 1 medal in London 2012. It became 4 in Rio 2016 and 19 in Tokyo 2020. I think 40 medals in Paris isn’t a far cry. It could be a watershed moment for Indian sport and mainstream Paralympic sport in a way that we haven’t seen before. For us at RevSportz able bodied and Para sport need to be celebrated side by side. For Para sport is Parallel sport and not sport for men and women with disabilities. That’s how we become a more inclusive society and a better country. At Trailblazers 2.0 that’s what we will be doing as we celebrate our Champions. A record-breaking Paralympic Games came to an end for India on Sunday, and what a memorable 10 days it was. Beginning with Avani Lekhara's gold medal on the shooting range and ending with Navdeep's javelin gold, everything in between was historic too, as India's para-athletes scripted the country's greatest Paralympics campaign ever. This is India's story at the Paris Paralympics, as told by the numbers: 7-9-13 Seven gold medals, more than ever before. 29 medals, ten more than ever before. Records were shattered. Incredible stories were told. From India's perspective, Paris 2024 will long be remembered for the exploits of its para athletes. India finished in the top 20 of the medals tally, and barely just missed out on the top 15. India were one gold away from 15th, while Spain is above India with just two more silver medals. #news #media #jobs #paralympics #sports

India now has 22 medals and counting at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Tokyo's 19 medals record has been broken. India's medal count in previous Paralympics:- Athens 2004- 2 medals Beijing 2008- 0 medal London 2012- 1 medal Rio 2016- 4 medals Tokyo 2020- 19 medals Paris 2024- 22 medals and counting. The improvements made by Indian Para-athletes can be seen very clearly. A huge respect to all the Indian Para-Athletes. 🇮🇳❤️ But what about the Olympics? Our medal count at Paris went down from being 7 at Tokyo to 6 medals, with none of the athletes being able to defend their podium. #connection What's your view on this? What is India lacking at the Olympics, Why Indian athletes can't even qualify for most of the track and field athletics event, while on the other hand Para-Athletes 👑 are putting up a show at track and field.
