While this growth aligns well with the fast-paced lifestyles of today, it is crucial to recognize the regulatory framework governing food safety in South Africa. 🍽️ Food Safety Regulations for Delivery Services In South Africa, food safety and transportation are regulated by the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act, 1972 (Act 54 of 1972), specifically under regulations R.638, which outlines the general hygiene requirements for food premises, food transportation, and related matters. Here’s what it means for the industry and consumers. Why This Matters: ✅ Safety First: High-risk food categories undergo mandatory inspections and third-party audits to ensure safety and quality. ✅ Enhanced Monitoring: This reclassification means stricter checks to protect consumers from potential health risks. ✅ Consumer Confidence Boost: With annual audits and inspections, the packaged water industry is set to improve transparency and safety. What’s Changing- 📌 Mandatory Inspections: Before granting licenses or registrations, FSSAI will now conduct risk-based inspections of all manufacturers of packaged drinking water and mineral water. 📌 Annual Audits: All centrally licensed manufacturers will need to complete annual audits by third-party food safety agencies approved by FSSAI. 📌 Goodbye Dual Certification: Previously, the industry had to comply with both BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) and FSSAI certifications. Principales caractéristiques de la norme SQF : 1.
