The Charitable Foundation’s funding support comes at a time when gynaecological cancers like ovarian, vaginal, vulval, cervical, and womb cancers are on the rise. À ce jour je résumerais la dernière place de l’Afrique dans le pocessus d’accessibilité à la thérapeutique aux cellules souches hématopoïétiques aux patients du continent et du reste du monde par un défaut d’informations et manque de communication. Et cela ne concerne pas que les patients dans le besoins de cette thérapeutique mais d’abord et surtout les professionnels de santé( medecins,…) associés aux décidants politiques qui je pense préférent ne pas s’y intéresser parce que le continent Africain n’aurait pas assez de ressources pour pouvoir rendre accessible cette thérapeutique à sa population. À tout ceux qui ont cette approche concernant ce sujet je leur répond via ce post de DKSM qui relate l’histoire de Mr Scott en faisant ressortir de façon assez simplifiée les différents éléments nécessaires à la mise sur pied et au bon fonctionnement du processus thérapeutique lié au don de cellules souches hématopoïétiques à savoir : 1-Avoir la Volonté d’apporter une solution au besoin et problèmes de santé de la population; 2-Regrouper et faire des mises à jour continue d’informations sur la thérapeutique de cellules souches hématopoïétiques ; 3- Communiquer sur les informations recueillies dans un langage compréhensible par la population via les différentes voies ou canaux de la communications qui doivent être adaptées au réalités locales bien sûr ; 4-En terme de ressources nécessaires pour le bon fonctionnement de ce modèle thérapeutique, la ressource humaine est et reste la principale et inestimable que nous ayons à ce jour. Alors nous comprenons bien qu’avoir de bonnes informations associé à une communication adaptée susciteras un élan de don volontaire et anonyme comme ce fut le cas pour Mr Scott qui a pu sauvé une vie parmi tant d’autres en attente. Je vais conclure par une série de citations de mon cher et beau pays: « Impossible n’est pas camerounais » et le Cameroun étant « l’Afrique en miniature » je peux aisément affirmer par analogie qu’ « Impossible n’est pas africain ». Alors ayons juste un peu de volonté et le reste suivra 😁

Let the SQUATS begin! Starting on the 1st of August, I shall raise money for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) by doing 100 #squats a day challenge. My 🎯 is £200! Help me reach my 🎯 I would greatly appreciate any amount you can spare so that I can hit my target and maybe raise more. Recently, there have been a few people close to me who have had #cancer. Due to the incredible work done to support cancer patients, they are on the road to recovery. 💗 ➡ There are around 167,000 cancer deaths in the UK every year, that's nearly 460 every day. ➡ Every four minutes someone in the UK dies from cancer. ➡ 1 in 2 people will develop a form of cancer during their lifetime. ➡ In the UK, the 4 most common types of cancer are: breast cancer and lung cancer. The Never Forgotten Ball is being held next March, raising funds for Cancer Research UK’s work on sarcoma research. Some background to the meaning behind the Ball, and the impact of funds raised, is below. Any support will be gratefully received. Kate Guthrie was 16 months old when she was diagnosed with a rhabdomyosarcoma. She underwent two major surgeries, massive amounts of chemo and radiotherapy but at no stage did she lose her beautiful smile and the ability to make people laugh. Since Kate's death in 1994, her family have worked alongside CRUK in trying to better understand sarcomas. Over the past 10 years, friends and family have raised £781,616.24 and funded 14 research projects in Kate's memory. In 2022 they made the decision to fundraise in support of Dr Robin Jones' work. Dr Jones' team aim to use artificial intelligence to investigate the various factors that impact a patient's response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Soft tissue sarcomas are a type of cancer for which surgery is typically the standard treatment when localised to one area in the body. However, for many patients who undergo surgery, their cancer returns. Chemotherapy given as a first step to shrink a tumour before the main treatment, which is usually surgery, could improve survival for those with soft tissue sarcomas by targeting small groups of cancer cells that have spread to other parts of the body. However, response to this treatment, called neoadjuvant chemotherapy, can vary depending on a number of variables, and currently, there isn't a way to predict how a patient will respond to this treatment.
