🖋️ Every passing year is not just time—it is experience that shapes us and sets the direction for the future. 2024 has been eventful, though not without its challenges. A Record-Breaking Start The last quarter of the previous year, 2023, was a record-breaking period for us. We successfully sold 14 lots for €60 million, anticipating continued growth in this trend. However, the NPL market saw significant changes in 2024. Major sellers raised their prices considerably, and buyers, unable to achieve the desired returns through collections, became more cautious. As a result, we conducted fewer successful online auctions and occasionally had to take on the role of a broker to facilitate the sale of some portfolios. ☑️ Reasons for Pride The highlight of the past year was our successful management of debt portfolios that we had invested in the year before. One portfolio delivered a net annual return of 25.5%, a result that is undoubtedly gratifying. But we are not resting on our laurels! We anticipate the full return of all invested funds in these portfolios and expect to realize net profits as early as the beginning of 2025. We are also grateful to 2024 for the opportunity to collaborate with one of the largest microfinance organizations, for which we administer the entire Spanish back office and even part of the front office. 🥂 What Do We Expect in 2025? - Strategic Shift: In the coming year, we plan to test new tactics across all areas of our operations. - Expanding into New Segments: We are particularly interested in second-tier banks, although building such partnerships requires months of effort. Insurance companies, utility providers (electricity and gas), and service companies also hold significant appeal. Additionally, we aim to work more actively with consumer credit providers. - Geographic Expansion: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and other neighboring countries present exciting opportunities for client acquisition. - Playing Big: In our debt portfolio investment activities, we will continue seeking potential investors but shift our focus to large-scale investors. These investors may find the Spanish market particularly attractive as a transparent and developed market with appealing returns. We see the greatest potential here. We are confident that all this will contribute to the growth and development of Casas Finanzas, as well as its establishment as a recognizable brand-service company providing professional services in the Spanish debt market for investors with great ambitions. #npl #investment #microfinance

Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Mastercard Partner to Mobilize Financing for MSMEs Ari Sarker, President, Asia Pacific, Mastercard added, “Despite their long-established significance to economies, MSMEs continue to be challenged by access to credit – the fundamental resource which can catalyze growth for them and their economies. For growth to be truly inclusive, closing the MSME funding gap needs to be a core focus for both public and private sectors. This partnership is a meaningful step in that direction.” https://lnkd.in/eHFa39YW Bhargav Dasgupta Teresa Yap Roberta Catani Olga Kulmaczewska Giang Nguyen Suman Hughes Alexia Morris Jen Langione Julianne Funk #fintech #finance #banking #paytech #payments #fintechnews #paymentsnews

Funding Societies | Modalku Group lands $100 million from HSBC #FundingSocieties, the region's largest digital finance platform for MSMEs, has secured over $100 million in commitments from #HSBC under the HSBC ASEAN Growth Fund. This marks the third credit facility provided by HSBC to Funding Societies since 2022 and stands as one of HSBC's largest asset-backed secured facilities extended to a digital SME lender in the region. Founded by Kelvin Teo, CPA ☀️, who serves as the co-founder and Group CEO, Funding Societies operates across Southeast Asia with a mission to bridge the substantial $2.5 trillion credit access gap faced by MSMEs. The #fintech platform leverages technology to offer tailored financial solutions, enhancing lending efficiencies and reaching financially underserved businesses. By doing so, it plays a critical role in fostering economic inclusion and supporting national GDPs, given that MSMEs represent up to 99.9% of enterprises in the region. This significant investment from HSBC will deepen and expand Funding Societies' capabilities in delivering crucial credit services to underserved MSME sectors. It aligns with HSBC's broader ASEAN Growth Fund strategy to provide scalable and regional financing solutions. Expressing his enthusiasm about the partnership, Kelvin Teo stated: "The continued support from a global bank such as HSBC is a testament to its commitment to support the development of digital platform businesses such as ours and MSMEs as we ride through a two-decade high interest rates impacting the global economy. This enables us to further explore scalable debt financing for growth and profitability, and bolster financial inclusion for the underbanked and underserved SMEs in the region." Portuguese Banks Set for Unprecedented €5 Billion Profits Portuguese banks are set to achieve record profits of €5 billion by the end of 2024, driven primarily by net interest income and a reversal of credit impairments. By September, the five largest banks—CGD, Banco de Crédito BCP, NOVO BANCO Banco BPI and Santander Totta—had already amassed €3.9 billion in profits. Despite previous expectations of a profit peak, analysts now predict continued growth, reflecting a broader trend across Europe. However, this profitability raises ethical concerns, as high fees and low deposit rates burden consumers. Critics argue that profits should be reinvested to strengthen banks rather than solely rewarding shareholders. The Bank of Portugal urges banks to bolster capital reserves in preparation for future crises, while analysts maintain that high interest rates will sustain favorable lending conditions. #bankingindustry #finances #markets #portugal

"Ravi Menon, ... who led the central bank for 12 years until 2023 and is a strong proponent of financial technology, will chair the Global Finance and Technology Network, the MAS said. He sees the non-profit - with around 40 staff currently - as a way to drive innovation for the common good 'to create economic value, to expand economic opportunities for people, to create more resilient and robust financial systems', Menon said. A key role of the network will be advisory services provided to governments and organisations, building on Singapore's reputation as a financial hub. The network could help governments adapt their fintech needs to local conditions and connect governments and regulators to multilateral agencies such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program and partners in the private sector, he said. The network will also raise private capital to invest in fintech and climate technology start ups with growth prospects and social impact, and continue to run global fintech forums. Menon said fintech has seen a lot of growth in the last decade with digital payments, tokenisation and digital identities and the expansion of financial inclusion. What he wants to focus on now is bringing the same technology and growth to economies like Africa and Latin America, and solving issues such as improving systems for payment flows, invoicing and e-commerce and facilitating cross border interoperability. 'There's still a lot more to be done in the next 10 years,' he said."
