There has been discussion about the infamous gummi bear as the symbol of cannabis edibles. The organization below is parroting some of the misrepresentation of edibles in the regulated space. Who has Health Canada's Ear? #cannabisregulations #edibles #cannabismedicine On the website of The Cannadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction and their mandate. "An Act of Parliament created the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) in 1988 as a non-governmental organization to provide national leadership on substance use and to advance solutions to address alcohol- and other drug-related harms." My comment on their post: Great iniative. You missed an opportunity to use the gummi bear to show that edibles in the shape of animal, toy, candy or any shape appealing to children are not allowed in the regulated market. I believe and if not please send me the reference, that most edible cannabis posionings are from gray market products. Most ER records do not make notions as such. The "Key Facts" could expand on the Health Canada specs.for edibles. The "Key Messages" one of them is to keep your edibles in "their" child resistant packaging. Here is the disconnect...gray market edibles... usually not in child proof packaging. Cannabis is approved for sale and consumption in Canada. That alone increases use. Use in both the regulated and gray markets. You need to educate these differences in edibles from the two markets. Also most gray market edibles are listed at 50+mg of THC for one piece and limitless amount in a package? Accuracy ? In the regulated market the max THC value is 10 mg per package. With QA and potency testing. Again the posioning risk and opportunity for harm reduction needs to be shown from the unregulated market and your role in educating about harm reduction.
It's Poison Prevention Week/La Semaine de prévention des empoisonnements! Cannabis edibles are poisonous for kids and should be treated like anything else that could put their safety at risk. Make sure you and your children’s caregivers store edibles out of reach from children. #DekraFrance #DekraFormation #CMR https://lnkd.in/dtXUS8bZ

"There are 1.3 billion tobacco users worldwide. Tobacco kills around 8 million people every year (more than 7 million active smokers and over 1 million non-smokers exposed to second-hand smoke). The life expectancy of smokers is at least ten years less than that of non-smokers. Tobacco is the only legal consumer product that kills up to half of its users when used exactly as intended by the manufacturer. Tobacco companies spent over 8 billion dollars on marketing and advertising. This theme of WNTD 2024 is focused on advocating for an end to the targeting of youth with harmful tobacco products. WHO aims to counter the tobacco industry’s infodemic and show policy makers how the industry continues to target children and youth to protect future generation. So lets take the first step towards a healthier, smoke-free future this No Tobacco Day. Together, we can clear the air and create a healthier world for everyone around us." - Dr Bharat Gopal , Director, Pulmonology & Critical Care, Delhi Heart and Lung Institute #NoTobaccoDay #WorldNoTobaccoDay2024 #WNTD2024 #SmokeFreeFuture #worldnotobaccoday #quitsmoking #stopsmoking #smokingkills Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) World Health Organization

Get an Edge! Change for Better. People + Science + Ideas. Unleash your potential as a leader of change.
How do so many organisations that aim to do good and make society better, end up in scandal and failure? How can you recognise & stop it happening? In the UK almost every time we turn on the news we see good organisations that have turned bad, or simply failed. Whether it’s: The collapse of The Body Shop Oxfam's sexual exploitation by it’s employees The Post Office sending it’s own employees to prison on false allegations The CBI and sexual misconduct The NHS blood transfusion scandal and cover up of people being given infected blood. The problem is never with one person: with the public enquiry into the blood scandal found failure “so widespread, no one individual, department or institution can be held accountable.” BBC Every last one of these organisations had a purpose, mission and values to do good in the world. They recruit people who are attracted to and dedicated to and experts in their good cause. Yet they end up doing harm. Why is this? A few years ago i was tasked with putting together a strategy to improve the healthcare of care homes across Sussex. I looked at the care ratings (CQC) of 118 care homes vs their urgent admissions to hospital (related to poor healthcare) Amazingly was no relationship between the CQC ratings about how good an organisation was and the amount of urgent hospital visits. Whether the care homes were assessed as being: ‘Safe’ - preventing abuse ‘Effective’ - Providing quality of life ‘Caring’ - Staff treated patients with kindness ‘Well Led’ - The leadership team are doing a good job Made absolutely no difference to the results of their healthcare. None. But there was one thing the data did make clear made a huge difference: ‘Responsiveness’ - Was care organised to meet the needs of their residents. The ONE THING that really really makes a difference is whether our good organisations are responding to the needs of staff and clients. From this perspective you can see a clear theme in all these scandals and many more. The organisation and the people who led it defined themselves as ‘good’. They stopped listening and responding to the needs of the people they were supposed to help. Especially when there was evidence when things that were happening were not good. The organisation identity was good and ‘complainers’ were perceived as threats. Your clients and staff are your eyes and ears to an ever changing world. They are the key to doing good in the world. They tell you what they need, but say when, however unintended, your organisations is doing harm So don’t define yourself as your organisation as being a ‘good organisation’ because of some label. Focus the good work of your organisation on listening and responding to the needs of staff and your customers. They will tell you what is good and what isn’t. Do you agree? How do you think we can make organisations that get good and stay good? #changemanagement #socialimpact #decisionmaking #socialentrepeneurship #transformation

Today is World No Tobacco Day, and this year we are focusing on protecting youth from the harms of tobacco. Smoking prevalence remains high in the middle east with a recent national survey showed that the overall prevalence rate of tobacco smoking was 12.2% for aged 15 years old (NIH 2020). This is alarming, given the World Health Organization tobacco is the reason for more than 7 million deaths worldwide each year (WHO, 2017). It goes without saying that eradicating tobacco is vital, but we recognise it’s not the end of the journey. So, this year, we're taking a bold stride forward by advocating for not only a world free from tobacco, but from nicotine, too. With Nicorette we deeply committed to creating a tobacco and nicotine free world to safeguard the health of present and future generations. That’s why, this World No Tobacco Day, we invite everyone to stand with us as we call for more support to help smokers and vapers quit for good. By working together, we believe everybody can achieve a total quit. #WNTD #HealthyLivesMission #WeAreKenvue Kenvue
