[Lithium in Argentina] Official commissioning of Eramet's Direct Lithium Extraction plant in Argentina! 🙌 All started at #ErametIdeas in Trappes 10 years ago with the first lab tests, followed by several pilot campaigns to develop a unique process for extracting lithium covered by 12 patents.   The DLE pilot plant left then Trappes for Argentina to produce the first lithium carbonate at the Training Center in Argentina at the end of 2019. With the help of our #ErametIdeas teams, our DLE was then implemented, tested, and tailored to the Argentinean environment over 5 years on the Centenario project site at 4,000 meters altitude. The main results? An impressive 90% #lithium recovery rate from the brine, compared to the average 40-50% recovery rate* of the traditional natural evaporation process. An advancement that reduces production lead time to just one week, versus the 12 to 18 months required by conventional methods. 👏   This technological achievement is now set to extract and produce at full capacity 24,000 t/year** battery-grade lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE), meeting the annual requirements for 600,000 electric vehicles.   More information here: https://lnkd.in/ek2QrCEG   *Recovery rate estimated for Centenario brine using the conventional evaporation process **On a 100% basis   #Innovation #Research #LithiumProduction Eramine Sudamérica S.A. [#ReLieVe] Our 800 m² pilot plant for recycling electric vehicles (EV) batteries is now ISO 14001 certified. 🙌 Six months ago, the demo plant was inaugurated at our Research and Innovation center in Trappes. Since then, the Eramet Ideas teams have been successfully launching the first trials. Their goal? To test and optimize the extraction and refining process of the valuable metals contained in EV batteries on a pre-industrial scale. ♻️   The main environmental challenges of this project include the preservation of natural resources through sustainable water resource management, protection of aquatic and atmospheric environments, the promotion of the circular economy by recycling metals contained in lithium-ion #batteries, and managing the waste generated, and rigorous risk management associated with the use of chemicals.   At the end of May 2024, Apave Certification confirmed that our pilot plant effectively manages all these environmental challenges it involves, underscoring our unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability in battery recycling.   Project in partnership with Eramet and SUEZ and co-funded by Bpifrance and the Innovation Fund 🇪🇺   #InnoFund #Innovation #RecyclageBatteries #Certification Ville de Trappes EU Environment and Climate
