This week in our #MarksFavourites, we’re looking at the unexpected rebirth of TOPSHOP TOPMAN, a former global fashion powerhouse that might be set for a return to physical retail. In a surprising move, ASOS.com has sold a majority stake in the Topshop brand for €160 million to Danish retail group Heartland, an arm of Bestseller, controlled by major Asos shareholder Anders Povlsen. Once a flagship of Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia empire, Topshop had stores around the world - including on New York’s Fifth Avenue - before its decline in 2020. The return of Topshop to physical retail, if realised, would mark a new chapter for one of fashion’s most iconic brands, demonstrating the resilience of strong retail identities even after periods of significant disruption.
