Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Dev Wants ‘More of Everything’, ‘Connected Features’ From PS5 And Next Xbox

Game director Scott Phillips says sharing and other similar features will become "more important".

While many developers at E3 2018 focused on the current generation, some began to think beyond that. We saw this with Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls 6 for next-generation hardware, while Starfield and whether or not it will be next-gen exclusive still remains up in the air.

Following the expo, Ubisoft EVP Lionel Raynaud spoke about how next-gen technology could allow for an expanded scale in Assassin’s Creed titles. He believed that a single Assassin’s Creed title could have “several historical” periods with the Animus travelling from one to another.

Though Raynaud essentially spoke about Ubisoft games having longer staying power and post-launch support, his line of “technology that will break the [current] limits of memory, for instance, because of new technologies that are arriving” stood out. What else does Ubisoft expect from the next PlayStation and Xbox though? GamingBolt spoke to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey game director Scott Phillips on his take, especially since the next generation will be here sooner or later.

Regarding his biggest expectation, Phillips simply said, “More. More of everything. I think connected features will continue to be important as more gamers get online and want to be connected with their friends; the share button and those sorts of things will be more, and more important. That’s why things like photo mode are coming back for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. We want to engage with the community and we hope that the platforms continue to allow that.”

While it will be sometime before either the PlayStation 5 or next Xbox is revealed, development plans already seem to be in motion at Ubisoft. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is meanwhile in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC with a release date of October 5th.
