We’ve been hearing about Dead Island 2 for years on end now, but it seems the title is finally taking steps toward an actual release. Though it’s changed developers on more than one occasion, now that it’s being made by Dambuster Studios, it seems like it’s finally gathering momentum. Interestingly enough, however, it seems like the game might end up being a cross-gen release.
That’s as per a new job ad for an Art Director by developer Dambuster. The listing mentions “the next instalment in the world renowned Dead Island franchise,” and states that the project is planner for “current and future platforms.”
Given the timeline of its development, this wouldn’t come as much of a shock. At the very least, it seems like this is a game that is still a year out, so if it does come out next year, a simultaneous launch on current-gen platforms and the upcoming next-gen consoles would make a lot of sense. This is not an official announcement though, so it’s best not to take this as a confirmation just yet.
Dead Island 2 publishers THQ Nordic have given assurances more than a few times that the game is still very much in the works and in the pipeline. Let’s hope we hear something more concrete about it in the near future.
