Destiny 2 Crosses 314,000 Peak Concurrent Steam Players with The Final Shape Launch

The expansion came close to breaking the previous lifetime record set by Lightfall but suffered multiple error codes on launch.

Bungie’s latest expansion for Destiny 2, The Final Shape, is finally available and off to strong start. Its peak concurrent players on Steam in the past 24 hours totalled 314,634, nearly beating its lifetime record of 316,750 (the launch of Lightfall).

Though the developer warned of player queues as servers returned online, many reported errors like Currant and Weasel while playing. It would implement a rolling restart of its servers, which helped mitigate Currant. For now, it’s monitoring any other errors and will provide updates as required.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. As the long-awaited conclusion to the Light and Darkness saga, it sees the player venturing into the Pale Heart of the Traveler to stop The Witness.

Alongside new Light-based subclasses, the expansion adds a new Support Frame weapon type, Prismatic subclasses and much more. Head here for more details. Its raid, Salvation’s Edge, will go live on June 7th at 10 AM PT, so stay tuned for more updates.
