Destiny 2 Doubles XP Requirement For Bright Engrams

After removing its XP throttling system, Bungie seeks to make things difficult for players again.

In the midst of the controversy that dogged Star Wars Battlefront 2, Bungie had its own little microtransaction debacle with Destiny 2. The developer introduced a system to throttle the amount of XP players would earn, thus increasing the amount of time between earning a Bright Engram (aka cosmetic loot that was purchasable with real money).

When players got wind of it, Bungie turned it off and promised that XP earned in-game would properly reflect the progress bar at the bottom of the screen. As it turns out though, Bungie Help on Twitter said that the API has not been updated to reflect this change. So if you’re relying on a website that tracks XP earned by using the game’s API, it still won’t show correct numbers.

Even more hilariously is the fact that the amount of XP required to earn a Bright Engram was now 160,000 – this is double of the original number (80,000). That should negate any positive change made to the XP gain quite nicely. What are your thoughts on this latest scummy move by Bungie? Let us know in the comments.
