Destiny 2 Nightfall Strike Unique Weapons Delayed, Rumble Coming in March

Game director Christopher Barrett offers updates on the game's roadmap.

Bungie has updated its roadmap for Destiny 2 and let fans know when they can expect certain awaited features. The next major update 1.1.3, which is out on February 27th, will be adding Nightfall Scoring. It was meant to bring Nightfall Strike unique weapons to the foray as well but that’s since been delayed.

According to game director Christopher Barrett, “It’s more important that each of those rewards live up to the difficulty it will take to earn them. They have to be super cool, so we’re giving the artists extra time to make sure they are…super cool.” Barrett also confirmed that improvements to the Mod System are still in the planning stages and unfortunately won’t be available in May with update 1.2.0.

Thankfully, one long-awaited addition to the game that was expected in Autumn is coming in March instead. The free-for-all Rumble playlist will be returning as part of the rotating weekly Crucible playlist.

“Rumble will be joining 6v6 Iron Banner and Mayhem in our new rotating weekly Crucible playlist in 1.1.4. We want to make sure players have a more diverse set of game modes available in both Crucible and Private Matches. Doubles is also planned to return, but we do not have an exact release date just yet. Keep an eye out for next week’s TWAB where we’ll go into more depth with our future Crucible plans.”

May should have the most exciting swath of content for Destiny 2 fans. It will see the launch of season 3, Private Matches, Seasonal Crucible Rankings, the Eater of Worlds Prestige Mode, Exotic Masterworks, an increase to Vault Space and changes for Exotic armour and weapons in the sandbox. That’s not including the rumoured Gods of Mars expansion that will also be out then.
